ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider NFL Gambling Preview

Ryan Tannehill looked great in limited action in week 1, as he went 6/6 for 62 yards and a TD. Seth Lobato came in and played the rest of the game. Lobato only went 14/28 for 124 yards with 0 TD’s.

While the Dolphins showed some promise in the pass game, the run game was another story. Miami only rushed for 52 yards on 21 carries (2.5 Avg.) against a Falcons defense that isn’t strong defensively.

Miami only gained 229 total yards and had 12 first downs in week 1. Basically once Tannehill went out the offense was non-existent. Tannehill should play another drive or two this week, but he won’t play long.

I don’t expect to see much from the Dolphins offense this week. Tampa Bay lost last week, but I thought the defense played relatively well. They only allowed the Jags to gain 264 total yards in the game.

Tannehill will likely have success in his limited time, but once Lobato comes in the game the offense will struggle to move the football. TB is tough to run on as well, so it’s unlikely Miami will score much.

Offensively, the Bucs only gained 249 yards and had 13 first downs against the Jags. Considering that Mike Glennon played quite a bit, the Bucs will need to improve this week if they want to have a chance.

Last week Glennon completed 11/19 passes for 140 yards and 1 TD. The RB’s were held to 82 yards on 25 carries (3.3 Avg.). Bobby Rainey looked good in limited action and should get some more touches.

The depth at WR is excellent in TB, but the QB play has to improve. While the Bucs defense held up in W1 they were unable to force any turnovers and they only got to the QB on one occasion.

Jacksonville QB’s went 16/23 due to the lack of pressure by the TB front seven. This will be a good test for the Bucs defense, as Lobato shouldn’t have the success that the Jags QB’s had last week.

Dolphins vs. Buccaneers Prediction

I’ll be betting on the home team to win this match-up and cover the –2.5 point spread. Tampa Bay has a good enough defense to shutdown the Dolphins offense just like the Falcons were able to do.

I thought Miami was lucky to only allow 16 points considering they gave up a TD on the opening drive and allowed Atlanta to gain close to 400 yards. Atlanta just couldn’t convert their chances.

Both teams should keep the run game in check, but the Buccaneers should be able to make more plays in the pass game and win a low scoring game. There is little to be excited about with this match-up.

Bet on the Buccaneers –2.5 (-110)
