Bills vs Colts NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The Bills broke a three game losing streak last week against Miami. The win was hardly an impressive feat but the Bills will take what they can get.

Buffalo

They have a very slim window to get back into the playoff race and a favourable end of season schedule with just two games against teams with .500 records or better including this week against an Indy team that is still learning about itself.

The Bills sputtered in the second half last week but at least they won the game.

The key was holding on to the football because when they do this team has enough talent to win.  CJ Spiller is enjoying having the running back role all to himself.  He had a season high 22 carries and nearly broke 100 yards for the first time since week 2.

The defense was stout too holding the Dolphins to less than 200 yards of total offense.

Buffalo is always an interesting team as a dog because they have good offensive potential.  When they don’t turn the ball over they tend to do well and I think the psyche of the team fits better with that kind of role too.

They are also catching Indianapolis at a good time after they got knocked down a peg by New England last week.

Indianapolis

If the Colts were getting swelled heads then they got a reminder from the Patriots last week about the true pecking order in the NFL. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Indianapolis has a promising future but is still not quite talented enough to overcome mistakes.  They are looking to reassert their position in the AFC by beating Buffalo this week  – a win that would show a lot about their character and leadership moving forward.

Andrew Luck is enjoying a fantastic rookie season but last week was far from his finest hour.

It was the third time this season that he has thrown more than one interception and it is probably not a shock that the Colts have lost all three games.  The previous two times it happened Luck bounced back the next week and the Colts won the game.

Against a team like Buffalo they don’t need perfection just consistency.

The Colts have a real nice opportunity to put some pressure on their playoff competition over the next few weeks.

If they get another rebound performance from Luck then they can certainly win the game and cover the spread it wouldn’t surprise either if he struggled again.

I think it is best to stay away from Indy for a little while as the team could go in any direction with its inexperienced leadership.
