NFL Division Preview – AFC North

In our quest to be the ONLINE LEADER in NFL Gambling & NFL Handicapping information we’re way out ahead of the rest with our 2010 Divisional Previews for all 8 NFL divisions.

We will be covering the entire off season for each team and giving you a preview of the upcoming 2010 season with updates from now through kickoff of Week 1 of the NFL 2010/2011 Season.

NFL Futures – 3 Teams in the AFC North Challenge for #1

The AFC North is up in the air mostly because of the 4-6 game suspension of the division’s best player, Ben Roethlisberger. Baltimore is the oddsmakers favorites and possibly has the best all around team in the division.

Pittsburgh will be hard pressed to whether the first third of their season without Big Ben, the Bengals are may take a step backward and the Brows are still the Browns.

Baltimore Ravens: -120

The Baltimore Ravens are favored in the AFC North largely by default. If Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t such a knob, it is likely that Pittsburgh would be the favored squad. Baltimore still has a very well balanced team and the acquisition of Anquan Boldin and Donte Stallworth will make Joe Flacco better indeed.

The running back trio of Ray Rice, Willis McGahee and LeRon McClain is ready to terrorize again.

The defense still has Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs as well. 10-6 might win the AFC North this year and the Ravens are certainly capable of that.

Pittsburgh Steelers: +125

It was quite an off season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger go himself into some trouble, they traded away their best Wide Receiver and cut Willie Parker. Nope – the Pittsburgh Steelers are not as talented as they have been in the last few seasons. They are older and are becoming an NFL tabloid!

Troy Polamalu returns healthy to a solid defense but I don’t think that it will be enough to overcome Ben’s suspension, Himes Ward’s age and the leaky Offensive Line.

Pittsburgh should finish second in the division but it would not be surprising to see them finishing .500 and in third place in the AFC North.

Cincinnati Bengals: +300

The play of Cedric Benson, the emergence of a decent defense and the acquisition of Antonio Bryant to play opposite of Chad Ochocinco has Bengals fans excited about the prospect of yet another solid NFL season.

Although the Bengals petered out toward the end of last season, they appear to be a more balanced offensive team. Antonio Bryant will make sure that Cincinnati is not the one dimensional team that they were last season.

There are still a few holes on defense and there are some concerns about the effectiveness of Carson Palmer, the Bengals could surprise this year and if Baltimore slips, they could surprise.

At +300, the Cincinnati Bengals are good value to possibly be AFC North champions.

Cleveland Browns: +1500

Is there any need to talk about the Cleveland Browns? No quarterback and a league worst defense that did nothing to improve itself during the off season has sealed their fate. Fourth place.

The AFC North’s unpredictability provides one of the best opportunities for NFL bettors to lay down on an underdog. Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati all have reasons that they could win their division.

I like the Ravens and their all around strength but I will be keeping my eye on Cincinnati.
