NFL betting gets tough at this time of year, with injuries, slumps and weather messing with our minds. It’s time to dig deep, study hard and come through with some inspiring NFL picks. We can do it!

COLTS (-6.5) over TITANS

It’s hard not to be touched by Vince Young’s story. He’s gone from bust to hero, leading the Titans to five straight wins since he took over as their starting quarterback and helping Tennessee become the first team in NFL history go from 0-6 to 5-6 in a season. Online sportsbook oddsmakers clearly respect the reborn Titans, favoring the undefeated Colts at home by less than a touchdown. But let’s not get carried away. As well as Tennessee is playing, its pass defense is still suspect. Peyton Manning has proven he can erase virtually any deficit over the last five weeks; Indy is the first team ever to win five straight games when trailing in the fourth quarter. Manning threw for over 300 yards against Tennessee earlier this year and should do it again. Chris Johnson should carve up the Bob-Sanders-less Colts on the ground but it won’t be enough to keep Tennessee within seven points.

EAGLES (-5.5) over FALCONS

It’s weird to call any team a “lock” on the road against an opponent with a winning record but that’s precisely what the Eagles are this week. Atlanta has no Matt Ryan thanks to an injured toe and probably won’t have left tackle Sam Baker and starting running back Michael Turner. Chris Redman was heroic in replacement duty last week, hitting Roddy White for a game-winning touchdown in the dying seconds…against Tampa Bay. NFL Picks: Parlay Of The Week Let’s see him do that against the blitz-crazy Eagles. The Falcons won’t score enough to keep this game close and their defense, which is the worst of any team with a winning record statistically, should get torched By Donovan McNabb.

COWBOYS (-2.5) over GIANTS

Given that December is easily Tony Romo’s worst month historically (71.9 rating, 14 touchdowns, 19 interceptions), I never thought two months ago that I’d pick the Cowboys to win at the Meadowlands in Week 13. But a lot has changed for the New York Giants since then. Their run defense isn’t the same without Antonio Pierce and they feel Kenny Phillips’ absence in the secondary more each week. It’s not that Romo’s habits will necessarily change; it’s that New York will make it easy for him. Eli Manning’s foot is also slowing him down just as the Cowboys’ pass rush is really heating up. The Giants’ struggles will continue, as will the Crimson Tide’s woes in Florida Alabama lines.
