2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds and prop predictions

NFL Football – Rookie Prop Bets

The NFL teams have gotten their mini-camps underway, giving us our first look at the newest NFLers in their team colors. With odds already out for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, we have an opportunity to make some money on the backs of these players.

The rookie award has had some true standout favorites that were picked early and went on to win the award in recent years, like Robert Griffin III in 2012, Cam Newton in 2011, and Sam Bradford in 2010, each of whom was a top-two pick.

A year ago, it was Eddie Lacy who took the crown. Among the preseason favorites given his situation, Lacy certainly wasn’t the clear-cut favorite given the class he came out in.

That’s the case again this season, with some definite standouts, but no clear-cut favorite.

Here’s a look at five players with a chance to take home the hardware this year.

Bishop Sankey, RB, Tennessee Titans, +900

With so many teams employing committee backfields nowadays, Bishop Sankey could find himself getting significant touches for the Titans. Chris Johnson is out of the picture, and Shonn Greene reportedly underwent knee surgery this offseason.

The team also shored up its offensive line, selecting Taylor Lewan in the first round of the draft to help open up those running lanes.

Brandin Cooks, WR, New Orleans Saints, +900

Brandin Cooks steps right into a great situation with a New Orleans Saints team that loves to chuck the ball around the park. There are certainly a lot of mouths to feed in New Orleans, but Marques Colston took a major step back last year, and Cooks is better suited to fill his role than Kenny Stills, who is more of a deep threat.

Cooks could see plenty of snaps in a pass-heavy offense very early one.

Jordan Matthews, WR, Philadelphia Eagles, +1200

Jordan Matthews finishes up a heck of a collegiate career and finds himself in a great opportunity with the Philadelphia Eagles. DeSean Jackson is gone and Jeremy Maclin is returning from a significant injury, which could mean significant snaps from day one. Matthews can do anything Chip Kelly asks of him on the football field.

Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers +1400

Cam Newton’s receiving corps took a big hit this season, with both Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell out of town. Cue Kelvin Benjamin, the Florida State standout who has all the physical tools to excel in the pros.

Benjamin could assume a large role given the situation he’s stepping into, and that could help him build up his numbers.

Tom Savage, QB, Houston Texans +2500

There certainly isn’t anyone that views Ryan Fitzpatrick as the quarterback of the future in Houston.

Former Pitt quarterback Tom Savage has the ability to get the football where it needs to go when he has a clean pocket.

New head coach Bill O’Brien knows how to make quarterbacks look good, and if Savage can get onto the field sooner rather than later, he could offer up some strong value.
