Dallas Cowboys Betting Odds – NFL Football Futures

Something is different in Dallas this offseason! Not once have I heard any talk of the Cowboys representing the NFC in the Super Bowl February 5.

A look at the numbers:

Last season – 6-10 SU, 6-10 ATS
Projection this season – 10-6 (2nd in NFC East)
Cowboys Super Bowl XLVI Odds: +20000
Cowboys 2011/12 NFC Odds – +20000
2011 Cowboys NFC East Lines – +225

That’s right folks, for the first time in recent memory, the Dallas Cowboys are actually flying under the radar.

Coach Jason Garrett will take the Boys into his first full season as head coach having led the Cowboys to a respectable 5-3 finish to the 2010 season – all with Jon Kitna as starting Quarterback. “The biggest thing is we need to stop talking and get to work,” Garrett said entering camp this season – refreshing isn’t it!

Dallas will have a bit of a different look in 2011 – gone from the 2010 roster are names such as Marc Colombo, Leonard Davis, Roy Williams and Marion Barber and kicker Kris Brown – a savings of $19 million. In are prized tackle Doug Free, guard Kyle Kosier, and defensive end Kenyon Coleman Spears.

It appears as though the front office has done a stellar job in trimming some of the fat and addressing some enormous concerns from last season.

The Dallas offense could shine this season – Fantasy Ballers take note! Tony Romo is back from a collar bone injury and is worth a couple of wins all by himself. The receiving corp. is dangerous too. Miles Austin is a Stud and Dez Bryant is poised to break out this season as the unquestioned #2 behind Austin. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Of course there is always Jason Whitten who is as reliable a Tight End as there is in the NFL. The running game belongs to Felix Jones who finally gets to run as the primary back – it’s about time! He has been the best option for the Cowboys for years but now gets his time in the sun with Marion Barber out of the picture.

Tashard Choice still looms as does third round draft choice DeMarco Murray.

Dallas will still be a tad soft on defense despite DeMarcus Ware who is considered one of the best all around players in the game. They should be improved however under new Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan and will just have to be OK for the Cowboys to make a serious run at a playoff spot this season.

Dallas Cowboys NFC East Prediction

Dallas looked like a nice value pick to possibly win the NFC East before the Philadelphia Eagles improved themselves dramatically during the Free Agency Frenzy.

Still, I expect a much improved team this season, one that could make some noise into January. Dallas is only one Philadelphia injury away (Mike Vick) from stealing the division and with a 10-6 record should do enough to finish second in the competitive NFC East.

You can relax Jerry Jones – your team will live up to some tempered expectations this season!
