Houston Texans Preseason Schedule
Aug. 12-16 at Arizona
Aug. 19-23 at New Orleans
Aug. 28 Dallas
Sept. 2-3 Tampa Bay
2010 Regular Season Opponents
Sun, Sept. 12 INDIANAPOLIS – This is a colossal game to start Houston’s season – a win at home against the division’s best would really get things started off on the right foot.
Sun, Sept. 19 @ Washington – A potent offense meets a plucky defense in the Redskins. Could be an interesting clash.
Sun, Sept. 26 DALLAS – The [NCAA’s] Longhorns and Aggies played the day before, so every Texas football fan will be glued to this match-up. The Texans are no longer merely a pesky little brother that can be whipped on command.
Sun, Oct. 3 @ Oakland – Even if Asomugha can stifle the league’s best receiver in Houston’s Andre Johnson, QB Matt Schaub can throw to others and Houston’s pass rush should bother new Raiders pivot Jason Campbell.
Sun, Oct. 10 NEW YORK GIANTS – Sure, it’s not Peyton Manning, the family member that regularly terrorizes Houston, but Eli Manning’s outfit are also tough customers and this is a tricky non-conference game.
Sun, Oct. 17 KANSAS CITY – In order to play meaningful games against the Colts and Titans, Houston must beat rebuilding visitors like KC. Wideout Dwayne Bowe is physical and RB Jamaal Charles is electric, but the Texans should still prevail.
Sun, Oct. 24 BYE
Mon, Nov. 1 @ Indianapolis – If the Texans continue to use the ‘David v. Goliath’ card as fuel for the national exposure on MNF, they’ll surely come out clicking.
Sun, Nov. 7 SAN DIEGOLT is now buried in Chargers’ lore, but there’s still the inexplicably tough RB Darren Sproles to game-plan for, and a troupe of wideouts that present match-up issues.
Sun, Nov. 14 @ Jacksonville – Look for Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew to shred the Texans’ second level. In the event he doesn’t do that, the road team is going to win.
Sun, Nov. 21 @ New York Jets – The Texans visit the new Meadowlands as the weather will be starting to turn. Will such a tough test also precipitate the turn of Houston’s season?
Sun, Nov. 28 TENNESSEE – At least you know what you’re getting with Tennessee: a fast, deceptively powerful stud tailback (Chris Johnson) and a large, uber-athletic pivot (Vince Young).
Thurs, Dec. 2 @ Philadelphia – Could there be 100,000 passing yards in this game? I’m making a point, but still, don’t rule out something ridiculous.
Mon, Dec. 13 BALTIMORE – Perhaps Ravens QB Joe Flacco is where Schaub was in, say, 2006?
Sun, Dec. 19 @ Tennessee – A divisional game with tons of potential swing to it, especially if the Colts don’t rattle off another dozen-game win streak.
Sun, Dec 26 @ Denver – So long as the visiting Texans are getting their mountain snow on the sidelines and not in the Denver nightclubs, they’ll be prepared to take this one.
Sun, Jan. 2 JACKSONVILLE – Win, and you punctuate what could likely be a strong divisional showing in 2010. Lose, and you lost to the Jaguars at home. Yuck.
