NFL Week 1 Preview + Early Gambling Odds

Are you ready for some football? The 2009-10 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night, Sept. 10 with the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Tennessee Titans and ends on Sunday night when Jay Cutler makes his Chicago Bears debut at the rival Green Bay Packers.

Listed below are short Week 1 Preview, and NFL predictions, plus a look at the early Week 1 NFL odds, and betting spreads.

Thursday September 10, 8:30 pm
Tennessee Titans @ Pittsburgh Steelers

NFL Week 1 Line: Pittsburgh -5 (Total 35)

The Titans and Steelers had two of the top records in the NFL last season. The Steelers return with a solid defense so look for this to be a low scoring game with last years champions wining at home.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Miami Dolphins @ Atlanta Falcons

NFL Week 1 Line: Atlanta -4 (Total 42.5)

Both Miami and Atlanta were surprise breakthrough teams n 2008, with the Dolphins finishing atop the AFC East and the Falcons winning the NFC Wild Card, but both teams lost in the first round of the playoffs. Look for the Dolphins to pull out all the stops to secure a week one win.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals

NFL Week 1 Line: Cincinnati -3 (Total 44.5)

Both the Broncos and the Bengals had a subpar year in 2008-09. Denver will be without Jay Cutler and Carson Palmer will be looking to lead the Bengals to better days. The Bengals will be looking for a victory at home to start the season.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Minnesota Vikings @ Cleveland Browns

NFL Week 1 Line: Minnesota -3 (Total 39.5)

The Vikings Adrian Peterson banged it out on the ground in 2008 for 1760 yards. The Browns had the worst defense allowing 151.9 yards per game. Peterson will lead the attack securing a win on the road for the Vikings.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Jacksonville Jaguars @Indianapolis Colts

NFL Week 1 Line: Indianapolis -7 (Total 44.5)

The Jags had their worst season of the year in 2008 while the Colts made it to the playoffs as a wild card one spot behind the Titans. Manning and company will be looking to take the top spot back in their division with an early season win at home.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints

NFL Week 1 Line: New Orleans -3 (Total 44.5)

The Lions lost 16 straight last season – looks like 17 after week one against the Saints who finished 2008 out of the playoffs but posted great offensive stats in 2009-10. Both teams struggle defensively so look for a high scoring affair.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Dallas Cowboys @Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL Week 1 Line: Dallas -3 (Total 41.5)

Both teams posted 9-7 records in 2008-09. Raheem Morris will be at the helm for the Buccaneers, but can he get the ship back on course? The Cowboys minus TO will look for QB Tony Romo to exploit a weaker Bucs defense and take one on the road to begin the season.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Philadelphia Eagles @ Carolina Panthers

NFL Week 1 Line: Philadelphia -1 (Total 44.5)

Both the Eagles and the Panthers showcased a great offense last season, the Panthers with their running attack and the Eagles with their air assault. Look for the Eagles to upset the Panthers in a high scoring contest.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens

NFL Week 1 Line: Baltimore -8.5 (Total 38)

Matt Cassel will need to be on his game if the Chiefs have any chance of beating the Ravens in their house. The Ravens as always will slam the door with their rigid defense and send the Chiefs home 0-1 to start the season.

Sunday September 13, 1:00 pm
New York Jets @ Houston Texans

NFL Week 1 Line: Houston -4 (Total 43)

The Texans were 8-8 last-year in a tough AFC South division. The Jets will look to savior Mark Sanchez to turn around their 9-7, 2008 season, but we all know that with rookie QBs come rookie mistakes. The Texans will take this one at home.

Sunday September 13, 4:00 pm
New York Giants @ Washington Redskins

NFL Week 1 Line: New York -6 (Total 39.5)

The Redskins have a new look on defense with recently acquired  Brian Orakpo and Albert Haynesworth. The Giants won the NFC East in 2008 and have Eli Manning. Look for the Redskins to upset the Giants winning one at home.

Sunday September 13, 4:00 pm
San Francisco 49ers @ Arizona Cardinals

NFL Week 1 Line: Arizona -6.5 (Total 47)

The 49ers will be looking for an early win to put them in a race to win the division this season, but only one thing stands in their way. Last year’s Super bowl runner up, the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals will spoil their hopes with a win at home.

Sunday September 13, 4:00 pm
St. Louis Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

NFL Week 1 Line: Seattle -7 (Total 43)

The Rams will be under the direction of new head coach Steve Spagnuolo, but will it be enough, or will it be another dismal season? Probably the later. The Birds however added wide out TJ Houshmandzadeh in the off-season and look to be one of the better teams in the NFC. Seattle steals an easy one at home.

Sunday September 13, 6:20 pm
Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers

NFL Week 1 Line: Green Bay -3 (Total 43.5)

Da’ Bears may have a legitimate shot at a Super bowl run if newly acquired Jay Cutler can perform as anticipated. The Packers are an even-match. This one is a tough call – Packers at home.

Monday September 14, 7:00 pm
Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots

NFL Week 1 Line: New England -10 (Total 46.5)

This could be the most exciting game of week one. The triumphant return of Pats QB Tom Brady and Terrell Owens’ debut with the Bills. Brady will be looking to get back into his groove and TO will be looking to catch his first TD pass in a Bills uniform. This game should be high scoring and packed with thrills, but look for the Pats to ruin TO’s welcome to the NFC East.

Monday September 14, 10:15 pm
San Diego Chargers @ Oakland Raiders

NFL Week 1 Line: San Diego -6.5 (Total 44.5)

I can’t believe they put the Raiders back on Monday Night after last years debacle against the Broncos. The Chargers will look for L.T. to get back to scoring TDs on a regular basis. The Raiders will hope that RB Darren McFadden can add some fire to their ground attack in an otherwise weak offensive attack. The Raiders come through with a late scoring drive to take this one at home.

With, the return of Tom Brady and lots of new faces in new places, there will be no lack of drama and excitement to kick off the 2009-10 NFL season.

Week one opens up with a couple of good divisional match ups.

I’m looking forward to the New England-Buffalo game as we get to see both T.O.’s debut with the Bills and Tom Brady’s return to action.

how did 49ers git in here?

Sunday September 13, 4:00 pm – St. Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals

The schedule is correct. Check it on the NFL website. I posted earlier but someone removed my comment.
