Alabama’s real contender possibilities to a national championship are base on RB Mark Ingram performance week in and week out.
Ingram has been playing like a Heisman Trophy candidate after running career-high 246 yards and a touchdown in the victory 20-6 over South Carolina.
“Mark did as fine a job today as anybody I’ve ever been around, and that includes Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown and some really good ones,” Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “He was fantastic.”
However I’m not completely sold on Alabama’s #2 national ranking, don’t get me wrong, from the start I have been saying they are a National Team contender but their passing game is horrendous. Crimson Tide QB McElroy struggled against South Carolina throwing for only 92 yards with no TDs and two interceptions.
This will be a really close matchup will some hard hitting football but Tennessee Volunteers will have to play almost a perfect match to beat Alabama.
Crimson Tide owns the 4 th rank Total defense in the bowl subdivision. Their only weakness will be defending the pass but they are still much better than the majority, so Volunteers QB Jonathan Crompton (13 TD and 9 INT) will have his hand full.
My pick: Alabama will cover the spread.
