UTSA Roadrunners 2015 NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Predictions

2015-2016 Football Previews – (C-USA) – Roadrunners

If a 4-8 season wasn’t bad enough last season for the Roadrunners, they may want to close their eyes this season. UTSA saw 36 seniors ship out after the 2014-2015 season and will literally be starting from scratch this season.

Head Coach: Larry Coker
2013 Record: 4-8
UTSA Odds to win C-USA: 100/1

Injuries played a crucial part in their downfall last season as they went a majority of games without their leading rusher, top receivers, and top defensive players.

In Larry Coker’s 5th year with the headset as UTSA head coach, this could prove to be his toughest and say a lot about how good of a recruiter he is. Coker had to go out and replace essentially his whole starting core and will be dealing with a very young team in 2015.

Coker did a solid job as far as numbers are concerned as he brought in 38 players (13 early enrollees) and has some junior college transfers.

Will these players be enough to make UTSA a contender?

Team Strengths

Potential hidden gems: It’s no secret that losing that many seniors is hard to overcome in just one year. It’ll be near impossible to turn the program around in just one season.

However, with bringing in all these recruits and 8 junior college transfers, the Roadrunners could have possible future stars within this group. The best thing about bringing in all these guys is you have no clue what their potential is.

UTSA will come into this season with legit 6 QBs having a chance to get the starting role. While that is incredibly overwhelming, having this many options for a team like this is a beautiful thing.

The running back situation is the same as well. They’ll have 6 potential RBs that can be number 1 on the depth chart come the first game.

Team Weaknesses

Just so many question marks: With the various options all over the field for UTSA, it’ll be a tough job on the coaches to determine who plays and who doesn’t. It’s tough to give 6 QBs all equal time in camp and get enough of a look at them to determine who is the best out of the group.

Coker will have to keep his options open and even get as many players as much PT as possible. This isn’t the year for UTSA in terms of competing. This is a year to find out who these players are and get set for the 2016-2017 season.

Non-conference Schedule: The Roadrunners open up with Arizona, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State. That’s going to be extremely tough to judge players potentials against the top teams in the country. That will do no favors for Coker early in the season. Patience will be key.

2015-2016 Texas San Antonio Roadrunners Prediction: 2-10

Things won’t be any fun for UTSA this season.

Finding themselves and understanding who will be at the head of each position going forward is the most important factor for them.
