Sugar Bowl Utah Utes vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
Sports betting fans have to respect the Utah Utes. It wasn’t but a few years ago when the Utes had Alex Smith at quarterback and Urban Meyer calling the plays. Smith went to the San Francisco 49’ers and Meyer ended up coaching the Florida Gators. But the Utes have kept movin’ on, as Sam Cooke sang, winning games at a blistering pace. Utah is undefeated this season at 12 and 0. The only reason they aren’t in the BCS Championship game is because they don’t play in a BCS conference. Utah is also 7-3-1 against the BetUS online betting spread. With quality wins against Oregon State, TCU and BYU, the Utes have played their way into the 2009 Sugar Bowl.
Of course, the team that they face, the Alabama Crimson Tide is one of the best in all of college football. Save for a 31 to 20 loss to the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship, the Crimson Tide would be in the BCS Championship game. Alabama was ranked number one for most of the college football regular season. Coach Nick Saban has turned ‘Bama into one of the top programs in college football in no more than two years. He’s unbelievable. Straight-up, the Tide went 11 and 1. Against the BetUS online wagering spread, Alabama went 9 and 4.
Here are the BetUS Sportsbook online NCAAF betting odds for this game:
Utah Utes + 9 – 110 + 310 O 46 – 110
Alabama Crimson Tide - 9 – 110 – 380 U 46 – 110
Throw-out any trends in this game because Utah and Alabama are so foreign to each other that the winner is of this year’s Sugar Bowl is going to come down to something very simple.
‘Bama is just too good for Utah to stick with. Yes, Utah is undefeated. That’s tough to do in college football but the Utes haven’t faced a battle tested, hungry team like the Alabama Crimson Tide this season.
Beating BYU and TCU is all well and good, but ‘Bama truly believed that they were going to the BCS Championship. Once they lost to Florida, they turned their thoughts to the Sugar Bowl.
Alabama is angry. Nick Saban is a genius and that defense is going to rough up Utah quarterback Brian Johnson. As well as Johnson and the Utes have played, I just don’t see them having any shot in this game.
This is going to be Georgia vs. Hawaii, last year’s Sugar Bowl blow-out, all over again except it might be worse. That ‘Bama defense is just too tough for Utah to score against and on offense the Tide should roll with Glen Coffee rushing the ball.
This game could be over by half-time.
2009 Sugar Bowl Prediction:
This should be a lock. I’m going with the Alabama Crimson Tide to cover the 9 point spread in the BetUS online sportsbook.
