Hard to believe NCAA football betting is already in its second week, but it’s true. You know what that means: rivalry time. USC and Ohio State resume pleasantries this weekend, but most betting services don’t expect a classic, making the depleted Buckeyes seven-point underdogs at home. Can they pull off an upset over Pete Carroll’s boys?

Needless to say, Ohio State is hungry for revenge after an embarrassing 35-3 road loss to USC last season, but I’m not so sure they’ll get what they want this week.
So far, so good for Matt Barkley, the first true freshman to ever start for USC. He looked poised against San Jose State last week and, even if the Buckeyes make him work harder, can defer to his outstanding group of running backs whenever he needs to. Joe McKnight is a Heisman Trophy candidate and C.J. Gable and Stafon Johnson are no slouches either. Regardless, it’s safe to say the Trojans will score on Ohio State. Navy – Navy! – racked up 342 yards of offense against Ohio State last week and threw for two scores. What, then, can USC do to the poor Buckeyes?
Terrelle Pryor is a talented and athletic quarterback but he and the Ohio State offense lacked chemistry in week 1. Pryor threw a late pick and the running game stalled. Against a tough USC defense that ranked second in the nation last season, Ohio State doesn’t seem poised to score many points this week. It doesn’t help that wide receiver DeVier Posey may not play after leaving week 1’s contest with an ankle injury.
Expect USC’s “D” to stymie Ohio State’s offense early. The Trojans will take an early lead and never look back, meaning Barkley will settle into caretaker duties and hand the ball off all night long. Look for USC to seriously dash Ohio State’s BCS hopes with a road win.

I like USC heading into the Big Horseshoe and beating Ohio State by more than 7. The Buckeye’s performance in big games as of late has been less than spectacular. That coupled with the way they looked last week doesn’t bode well for them on Saturday
