Top 5 Free 2014 Bowl Game Gambling Predictions – Cappers Insight

Top 5 Bowl Games to Bet

I am not sure I agree with who was selected for the first playoffs but that doesn’t mean I am not psyched for bowl season. The juicier matchups may be later in the month but some of the earlier games have the best winning opportunities.

Here are my 5 best bets based on the lines at the moment.

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

Air Force Falcons +1
Matchup | Preview

Having extra time to prepare does not mean that you are ready for an option attack. In their last game Western Michigan gave up almost 200 yards on the ground to Northern Illinois when they knew what was coming.

Against Air Force they are going to be looking every which way to slow down the 8th best running attack in the nation. Air Force had a strong season losing only three games, all on the road.

They beat Boise State this season and this trip up to the Smurf Turf will feel very familiar to them. Put it all together and I expect them to win easily against the Mustangs.

Boca Raton Bowl

Northern Illinois Huskies +10
Matchup | Preview

Marshall has been a nice story all season long but they have not been facing quality physical teams like they will face in Northern Illinois in Conference USA.

[dfads params=’groups=66501&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Yes they should be able to sling the ball around against the Huskies but this number is just too generous for a team that nearly failed to win that league and has lost their last three against the number. A few extra weeks of practice is not going to make Gang Green suddenly tougher.

Take the Huskies this group is used to winning and it wouldn’t surprise me if they upset the Thundering Herd.

Quick Lane Bowl

North Carolina Tar Heels -3
Matchup | Preview

The Tar Heels closed their season with a thud against rival NC State. But over the course of the year they have proven they can beat good teams and that Marquise Williams is one of the best playmakers in college football.

He led the team in rushing and passing and I am quite confident he can outplay Rutgers QB Gary Nova. The Rutgers defense has been terrible most of the season they will crumble against a potent Tar Heels attack. Look for North Carolina to win by 10 or more.

Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl

UCF Knights -2
Matchup | Preview

The Knights might have needed a hail mary on the road to grab a share of the AAC title but this team is going to be a handful in the bowl game. They have a Top 10 defense and QB Justin Holman can move the offense. As long as the Knights are clean they will handle anything NC State can throw at them.

[dfads params=’groups=63739&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

It should feel like a home game too as the game is a stone’s throw from Orlando in St. Pete. This is one of the best values right now so you might want to grab it quickly in your pool.

Capital One Orange Bowl

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +7
Matchup | Preview

This looks like another case of the market underrating Georgia Tech. They more than held their own against Florida State and closed the season with 6 straight ATS victories. Now they face Mississippi State from the big bad SEC and I expect to more than hold their own.

Even though they beat Auburn the Bulldogs gave up more than 200 yards on the ground and I think we can expect something similar when these two teams meet in the Orange Bowl. With the running game setting the pace this one will come down to a FG either way so Tech is great value here.
