This team just isn’t the same team on the road as they are at home and now they face their in-state rivals shorthanded with running back Marcus Lattimore out for the season and defensive difference maker Jadeveon Clowney questionable, amongst others.

The Gamecocks come in with some momentum having won three in a row but are in for a serious test of their defense.
They will also need QB Connor Shaw to play better as he, like the team, is a much different player outside of Columbia. I think the Gamecocks will want to slow the pace down with the running game which means Clemson should see a steady diet of Kenny Miles, who hadn’t done much with the extra playing time before last week against Wofford.
The story of SC this year really is about home and away. They are a perfect 7-0 at home and even in their two road wins they underwhelmed. Their ATS record mirrors that, 5-2 at home and 2-2 on the road.
This is just the third time they have been an underdog this season and they are 1-1 in that role – again all on the road.
Clemson
Clemson is very good but their resume is not all that impressive as compared to other one loss teams so they don’t have a lot of upward mobility right now. They have been bettors favourite’s all season long due to their 8-3 ATS mark but the loss to FSU keeps them out of championship game picture. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
A win this week could get them at at large bid to a BCS game which would make that two years in a row for a program maligned for underperforming.
Clemson is often considered the little brother in this rivalry and has not won for the past three years. They have a great chance to flip that with one of the most dynamic and productive offenses in the country. They average 44ppg but probably only need to get two thirds of that for an easy victory.
QB Tajh Boyd could maybe even make a late Heisman push with a stellar outing.
Given the injuries to South Carolina and the location of the game that -4 looks like a steal. South Carolina really does not have much to play for in this one either.
Clemson will get the Gamecocks monkey off their back with a resounding victory that will give the ACC some measure of respect.
