Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. OU Sooners Week 8 Free Pick

Texas Tech vs Oklahoma Free Prediction

Oklahoma (6-0) is undefeated and has 3 straight blowout wins and they are HUGE favorites over Texas Tech (4-2), who has lost 2 straight games. However, Tech has the nation’s 6th ranked passing offense and the nation’s 9th highest scoring team so they may not be a push over.

Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners Preview

NCAAF lines have Oklahoma as big 29-point home favorites with a total of 70.

In their last games Oklahoma crushed Kansas 47-17 while Texas Tech lost to Kansas State 41-34.

Oklahoma has won 39 straight home games.

Texas Tech has lost 26 of their last 29 road games against teams that are ranked in the top 25.

The Sooners have the nation’s 4th ranked offense and they have no lack of big play guys with the likes of QB Landry Jones, NCAA’s all time reception leader WR Ryan Broyles, and RB Dominique Whaley, who ran for a career-high 165 yards and a TD last week. In the win over Kansas the Sooners racked up over 600 yards of total offense for the 3rd time this season.

Texas Tech has the nation’s 111th ranked rushing defense, but they are solid with a 20th ranked pass defense. However, their pass defense may not be as good as their stats indicate, as they have only faced one team this season with a great passing offense and that was playing Texas A&M where they gave up only 188 yards in the air. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Even if they play well defending Jones the Red Raiders cannot give up a ton of rushing yards and in their last 2 games they have given up a total of 398 rushing yards.

Tech and their passing offense is led by QB Seth Doege, who has a solid WR corps and passed for a career high 461 yards last week, but he was picked off 3 times. Turnovers are key in this game, as the Red Raiders cannot give the ball back the Sooners’ offense and count on their D to stop them. Oklahoma ranks 34th in the nation defending the pass.

The Red Raiders rushed for 119 yards last week last week against Kansas State and their great rushing defense, but lead back Eric Stephens is out with an injury and backups Aaron Crawford (121 yards 1 TD) and DeAndre Washington (134 yards 3 TD) will have to pick up the slack.

Betting Trends

Texas Tech is 4-2 ATS and has an O/U record of 5-1 and Oklahoma is 4-2 ATS and has an O/U record of 3-3.
Texas Tech is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against teams with a winning record and has an Over record of 5-2 in their last 7 road games.
Oklahoma is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games, and has an Over record of s 4-1 in their last 5 games against teams with a winning record.

The home team has covered the spread in the last 5 games between these Big 12 rivals.

Jason’s Pick: While I do not think Oklahoma will have a tough time winning this game Tech will score points and cover the big 29-point spread. Take the Red Raiders to cover and take the Over as well, as this game will be a barnburner.
