On the opposite end of the spectrum Kansas is one of the worst BCS teams around, maybe the worst. As the spread shows this is one hell of a mismatch and should be another opportunity for Baylor to put up some gaudy numbers.

Baylor

There are so many superlatives about the Baylor offense it is hard to know where to start. Since he does not get as much pub as some other QBs I want to start with Bryce Petty.

He may not be leading the nation in yards but you can easily make the case that no other passer is more efficient as he leads in yards per attempt. If you think Jameis Winston is awesome, and he is, Petty has an even higher QB rating at 221.

When he hands off Lache Seastrunk is ripping off more than 9 yards per carry. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

He barely averages 10 carries per game which is why his total is only top 20. According to their coach they want to score on every play, not set up something down the road. That kind of aggression is having huge results this season.

Further their defense has played off of it as well. Since teams are forced to play catchup they are getting out of their comfort zones and the defense benefits. Everything is rolling right now in Waco.

Kansas

I don’t know how Charlie Weis still has the job as coach of the Kansas Jayhawks.

This team is terrible and despite his reputation as an offensive guru from his time in New England Kansas is awful on that side of the ball ranking no better than 100 in any of the major offensive categories nationally this season.

I know KU is a basketball school but they are still in the B12 but there is no reason they should be this bad – only once have they scored more than 19 points this season (against FCS South Dakota). Defensively they are better by comparison but this team is in for a long and hard Saturday evening courtesy of the Bears defense.

I am not sure why the spread is only 34.5 in this one. I guess oddsmakers think there is something to the fact that the the Jayhawks have coverd in their last 2. There isn’t.

Spread Pick: Baylor -34.5
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Baylor 66 – Kansas 10
