The No.22 Miami Hurricanes take on the Virginia Cavaliers this upcoming Saturday afternoon in an ACC Coastal Division matchup at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, VA. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Miami continues to march toward a November 30 showdown with No. 23 Virginia Tech that could decide the ACC Coastal division champion after beating North Carolina 33-10 last Saturday to raise its record to 3-1 in the conference. The Hurricanes covered as a 6 ½ point home favorite and the total stayed ‘under’  the 47 ½ point line. They are now 5-2 straight-up on the year and 4-3 against the spread.

Defense continues to be Miami’s biggest attribute as it is ranked 20th in the country in points allowed, giving up an average of just 18.3 per game. Offensively, the Hurricanes remain balanced between the pass and run, averaging 230.1 yards per game through the air and 169.1 yards per game on the ground. QB Jacory Harris has completed 53.9 percent of his passes for 1561 yards. He has thrown 14 TD’s as well as 10 interceptions. RB Damien Berry leads the team in rushing with 648 yards on 131 carries. Virginia’s new head coach Mike London has brought some level of respectability back the program after last year’s team only managed to win three games all season. Last week’s 48-21 win over Eastern Michigan raised the Cavaliers record on the year to 3-4 SU and 4-3 ATS. They covered as a 24 point home favorite and the total went ‘over’ the 56 point line. Virginia is currently 0-3 in ACC play.

One area that has greatly improved has been the Cavalier’s passing offense, which is ranked 35th in the nation; averaging 255.1 yards per game. QB Marc Verica has completed 122-of-211 attempts for 1489 yards. He has eight TD throws and six interceptions. WR Kris Burd leads the team with 32 receptions for 472 yards. RB Keith Payne has 471 yards on the ground and leads the team with 10 TD’s.

Miami is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games and 5-5 ATS. The Hurricanes are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five games on the road. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 games.

Virginia is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games but 6-4 ATS. The Cavaliers are 3-4 SU in their last seven games at home and 4-3 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of their last nine games.

Head-to-head, Miami has won four out of the last six games SU and is 3-3 ATS. Last the Hurricanes season won going away 52-17 as a 14 ½ point home favorite. The year before, they won 24-17 in overtime as a one-point road underdog.

Virginia is a better team this season, but is still not ready to seriously compete with upper echelon of the ACC. The Cavaliers will keep it close for awhile, but look for the Hurricanes to pull away down the stretch.

Betting Trends:

Virginia is 4-10 SU in its last 14 games at home

Virginia is 2-5 SU in its last 7 games when playing Miami
