The Louisville Cardinals head into Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA to take on the Pitt Panthers in a Big East matchup this upcoming Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.

Louisville continues to be one of the surprise teams in the Big East after upending Connecticut 26-0 last Saturday for its third win in its last four games. The Cardinals easily covered as a three-point home favorite and the total stayed ‘under’  the 53 point line. They are now 4-3 both straight-up and against the spread for the season and 1-1 SU in conference play.

Defense and running the ball continues to be the two main strengths of this team. Louisville is ranked 24th in the country in points allowed, giving up an average of 18.6 points per game. Saturday’s win was the Cardinals second shutout of the season after they beat Memphis 56-0 three weeks ago. RB Bilal Powell leads a Louisville rushing offense that is ranked 20th in the nation in average yards per game with 211.1 per game. Powell has 1003 rushing yards on 142 carries. He also leads the team with nine TD’s. NFL Betting

Pittsburgh is coming off a 41-21 win over Rutgers as a 13 ½ point home favorite. The total went well ‘over’ the 46 ½ point line. The win moves the Panthers to 4-3 SU on the year and 3-2-2 ATS. They are 2-0 SU in the Big East.

Pitt comes into this game averaging 30.3 points per game on offense and giving up an average of 21.3 points per game on defense. QB Tino Sunseri has completed 128-of-190 attempts for 1549 yards and has thrown 12 TD’s against just four interceptions. WR’s Jon Baldwin and Mike Shanahan have been a force, combining for 56 receptions for 878 yards and five TD’s. RB Ray Graham is the team’s leading rusher with 645 yards on 85 carries. He leads the team with seven TD’s; six on the ground and one through the air.

Louisville is 5-5 both SU and ATS in its last 10 games. The Cardinals are 1-2 SU in their last three road games but 3-0 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last nine games.

Pittsburgh is 5-5 SU in its last 10 games overall and 5-3-2 ATS. The Panther are 4-2 SU and ATS in their last six games at home. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last nine games.

Head-to-head, Louisville has won three out of the last five games SU, but Pitt has won the last two. The Panthers are 3-2 ATS in the last five games and the total has stayed ‘under’  in four of them.

Last year Pittsburgh came away with a one-sided 35-10 win on the road as a seven-point favorite and the year before it easily covered as a six-point home favorite in a 41-7 victory. It is that time of year when some of the better teams in the conference start to assert themselves and this is the Panthers week to do just that.
