Before the season started this was supposed to be a huge season ending contest with SEC and possibly BCS Championship implications. Now those hopes have long since been dashed with neither team having much to play for in this finale.

LSU should win and easily but the circumstances make handicapping this contest a challenge.
I don’t trust either of these team right now, especially Arkansas.
It took a little more than expected for the Tigers to put away Ole Miss last week.

They found themselves down for a large part of the game and needed a big 4th quarter to bail themselves out.
Whatever mojo QB Zach Mettenberger had coming into the game deteriorated quickly as he wasn’t nearly as efficient and turned the ball over a couple of times. It should be easier to get the offense going against Arkansas though.
It is the last game of the season but only the 4th departure from Baton Rouge for the Tigers. On the road they have been just 1-2 ATS this season as both the offense and defense have been substandard. In games where they are favoured between 10-20 points LSU is just 1-2 this season as well.
Because they have difficulty mounting consistent offense they are just not a good bet. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Arkansas
A disaster of a season is quickly coming to a close in Fayetteville – but there is still one more opportunity to be embarrassed or claim some pride.
The Razorbacks have lost their last two games on the road and are looking to save face in their home finale. If it was against another team that would be a somewhat likely scenario but with their lame duck coaching situation it is hard to imagine Arkansas putting up much of a fight, really.
Arkansas has struggled defensively all season long but may be getting a break by facing LSU which has been offensively challenged throughout the season too. Given that LSU is essentially practicing in this one the Razorbacks defense might catch a bit of a break. Offensively they have enough life to challenge an LSU defense that is very good but has been known to have some lapses.
Arkansas has fared well against LSU of late winning the last two home matches in this annual series. They have also fared well against the spread against the Tigers going 4-1 ATS the last 5 years.
If they play a complete game they can certainly make it interesting and are unlikely to pull key contributors as it is the last game of the season and they won’t be bowling.
It is all about pride.
