The Florida International Golden Panthers square-off against the Louisville Cardinals this upcoming Friday night at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in a Sun Belt verse Big East non-conference matchup.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

FIU got off to a fast start in its conference with a 41-16 romp over North Texas as a 13.5-point home favorite. The total went well ‘over’ the 53-point closing line. The Golden Panthers put this one away early with 28 unanswered points in the first quarter before coasting to the 25-point win.

Wesley Carroll completed 16-of-22 throws for 193 yards including seven passes to last season’s Sun Belt ‘Player of the Year’ wide receiver T.Y. Hilton. Darriet Perry and Kedrick Rhodes combined for 171 yards rushing and four touchdowns for the Golden Panthers. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Louisville opened its season against Division IAA Murray State and raced past the Racers 21-3 in the first half on its way to a 21-9 victory this past Thursday night. The Cardinals were in control from the start but could not cover as 28.5-point home favorites. The total stayed ‘under’ the 59.5-point line.

Will Stein threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns but only completed 53.1 percent of his passes. DeVante Parker caught three balls for 55 yards including a 39-yard touchdown catch early in the second quarter to give Louisville a 21-point lead. Running back Victor Anderson led the way on the ground with nine carries for 61 yards and one TD.

Florida International is 6-1 straight-up in its last seven games overall and 4-1 SU in its last five road games. The total has gone ‘over’ in 13 of its last 19 games on the road.

Louisville is 4-2 SU in its last six games overall, but just 1-4 against the spread in its last five home games. The total stayed ‘under’ in four of those games.

The Cardinals will have a hard time containing Hilton come Friday night as FIU runs its record to 2-0 both SU and ATS with the win.
