The ACC’s Boston College Eagles will try and bounce back from a tough opening day loss when they take on the Central Florida Knights, out of Conference-USA  this Saturday night. The game is slated to kick-off at 8 p.m. and it will be available on ESPN3.com.

Boston College opened the season at home as a five-point favorite, but could not rally for the win against Northwestern in a disheartening 24-17 setback. This game was tied at 10 at the half, but the Wildcats opened-up a 14-point lead midway through the fourth quarter and hung on for the win. The total stayed ‘under’ the 44.5-point line.

Eagles quarterback Chase Rettig threw for 375 yards, but completed less than 55 percent of his passes on 44 attempts. Running back Andre Williams led the team in rushing with 114 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Ifeanyi  Momah had a big day catching the ball with eight receptions for 157 yards.

Central Florida is one of the favorites to win its conference this season and showed why with a 62-0 shutout of D-IAA Charleston Southern as a 40.5-home favorite. The Knights tried to take this game ‘over’ on their own, but fell just short against a closing line of 62.5. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

One of the reasons that UCF is one of the favorites is its diversity on offense. The Knights use a two-quarterback set with Blake Bortles and Jeff Godfrey. Bortles is more of a pure passer while Godfrey is a duel threat with his ability to run the ball. They also have a solid running back in Ronnie Weaver, who ran for 107 yards on eight carries last week against the Buccaneers.

Boston College 5-2 against the spread in its last seven games and the total has stayed ‘under’ in its last seven games. Central Florida is 8-2 ATS in its last 10 games and the total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last six games.

This one should be a good, hard-fought battle that remains close right to the final gun. The Knights get a huge win at home over a program from a major conference, but Boston College is able to cover the seven-point spread.
