Week 14: Bobcats vs RedHawks Predictions

College football Week #14  betting action sees the Ohio Bobcats taking on the Miami of Ohio Redhawks on Tuesday November 25 at Fred C. Yager Stadium in Oxford, Ohio.  Cappers Picks provides free NCAAF handicapping tips all season long.

This game has little meaning but the Bobcats need it to get bowl eligible. You would think that would be enough to push the better team to a victory.

Ohio

At this time of the year Bobcats have usually bagged 7 or so wins making them easily bowl eligible and perhaps even in the hunt for the MAC title game. This year they are needing to get this victory to extend their season, a proposition that does look promising given the opponent. The reason the Bobcats are not as strong as they normally have been is that the running game is not as productive as it has been in the past. That is putting an extra burden on the QB and quite frankly the rest of the team.

The Bobcats played last Tuesday and quite frankly should have won against Northern Illinois. They outgained the Huskies with Derrius Vick having a strong game, especially running the ball – he just needs to avoid turning the ball over. If he can do that against the Redhawks they should win this one pretty easily as Ohio is the more talented team.  Running back A.J. Ouellette is coming off of back to back games with more than 125 yards rushing.

Miami

It has been a forgettable year for Miami. The one saving grace of their two wins is that they have both been in conference play so they are avoiding a last place finish in the East Division. They have been equally poor on offense and defense even though they have gotten good mileage out of Notre Dame transfer Andrew Hendrix at the quarterback position. It seems that about once a decade this program has a really strong season.  This is definitely not it and there is not much hope on the horizon either.

Hendrix may have come from a “Major” program but he has certainly not dominated the MAC. He has more than 3000 yards on the season but he is not even completing 50% of his passes so if he thought he could go down a level, dominate and go pro he is likely mistaken. Also you can’t overlook just how much catchup he has been playing when you look at his number. The Redhawks are one of the worst program in FBS.

NCAAF Handicapping Trends:

Under is 5-0 in Bobcats last 5 games following a bye week.

Bobcats are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Tuesday games.

Bobcats are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.

Redhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.

Redhawks are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Over is 4-1 in Redhawks last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game.

Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

NCAAF Prediction:  Ohio -2

NCAAF Score prediction:  Ohio 30 – Miami 16

Other than this being a road game there is no reason not to be all over Ohio.  They are the better team with so much more to play for. I trust their coach too. This is a nice value opportunity to kick off the football week.
