College football Week 4 betting action sees the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.  Cappers Picks provides free college football handicapping tips all season long.

This is an underrated rivalry in the ACC.  The games are usually razor close and the winner is often in contention for the Coast division title.

Georgia Tech

This will be the first taste of real competition for Georgia Tech. Sure they are 3-0 but with wins over Wofford, Tulane and Georgia Southern they are hardly looking ready to take the ACC by storm.

Last week they only beat GSU by scoring a TD in the final minute as their defense was a complete sieve against the Eagles, yielding nearly 300 yards on the ground – a bit of a taste of their own medicine.

Hopefully this rivalry will bring out the best in the Yellowjackets.

One bright spot was the passing game last week as GT was able to hit for some big plays.

That will be tougher to do against a very good Virginia Tech secondary but it gives them just a little bit of balance so the defense can’t load up completely on the run.

Don’t get me wrong the Yellowjackets will move the ball on the ground, they are averaging more than 300ypg rushing.

Virginia Tech

The Hokies are emblematic of how difficult college football is.

They had a monster win up at Ohio State but fell a little flat against East Carolina last week. They got down 21-0 against the Pirates and fought all the way back only to lose on a QB keeper with seconds to go. If they has won the game they would have remained in the mix of viable playoff teams.

Now, they have to just start proving that they are more the team that beat OSU and not the one that lost to ECU. They are probably right in the middle.

Georgia Tech is a whole other animal compared to ECU.

The Pirates with Shane Carden shredded what was supposed to be a very good secondary of the Hokies.

This week Bud Foster will be looking to stop the GT rushing attack, which VT has been very good at in the past, giving up just 129 yards on the ground in a victory. The Hokies have won the last 4 and covered in 2 of the last three.

These games are usually tight though.

These guys are always a treat to watch. Totally different styles and skills yet they always seem to make a good mix on the field.

NCAAF Score prediction:  Virginia Tech 30 – Georgia Tech 27

I don’t think that will happen this time but 6 of the last 7 have gone under.
