Georgia State

There is no nice way to put this but Georgia State is one of the worst FBS programs around.

[dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

They have just one win on the season, a one point victory over FCS Abilene Christian in the first of the season, and have been getting outscored by an average of nearly 20 points per game.

This week against Clemson could be an absolute bloodbath considering the Panthers were shutout 44-0 at Appalachian State just a few weeks ago. Just look at the line…it might not be enough.

Given they are down so much it only makes sense that the Panthers put up a lot of yards through the air.

Barring injury QB Nick Arbuckle will pass 3000 yards on the season in this one and has had a few monster games this year. I am sure he would trade a few of those yards for some balance as the Panthers muster less than 100 ypg on the ground.

Plus passing the ball feeds into that fearsome Tigers pass rush.

Clemson

The Tigers are enjoying a good season, just not as good as they have the past couple of seasons.

In recent times the Tigers have had one of the most prolific offenses around but this year they are a defense first team – only one team is giving up fewer yards per game.

The new mix has delivered good results but the Tigers have lost to the best teams on their schedule and certainly are not bridging the gap between them and Florida State in the Atlantic.

This a final chance to tune up before their annual tilt against the Gamecocks.

Offensively things never quite clicked this season. Freshman Deshaun Watson looks like he has all the physical tools to be a star, especially after a 400+ yard with 6TD performance against North Carolina, but he is banged up for this one and is unlikely to play I think.

Against GSU, it is probably the right thing to give senior Cole Stoudt a final chance to get some real game action.

Watson is the future and could be right for South Carolina next week.
