Washington

The Ducks and Huskies have a bitter rivalry that fans won’t forget anytime soon. The problem? It’s been extremely one-sided in recent history.

The past 10 meetings in this series have all been won by the Ducks. Even worse for Washington is that all 10 matchups have been decided by at least 17 points.

So far this season, the Huskies are winning games by an average point margin of 23.5 in their favor. They’re 37th in points scored (34.8 per contest) and also 37th in points allowed (21.3 per contest).

Against the Ducks, the key will be to take advantage of Oregon’s offensive line and get to Marcus Mariota. Despite having a loss on the schedule, the quarterback is still a Heisman candidate, and simply put: He’s been the only consistent source of elite offense on Oregon’s roster.

Oregon

Although the attention for Oregon is usually on the offense, consider rushing defense one sleeper in this one that could be a difference-maker for the Ducks. Washington is 43rd in the nation in rushing yards per game, but it’s likely to rely on that aspect of the offense considering it is just 106th in passing.

On the season, the Ducks are winning games by an average point margin of 19 points per game. The team is averaging 24.3 points allowed per contest, while scoring 43.3 — the seventh-best mark in the nation.

Luckily for the Ducks, they have a balanced offense. The team is 20th this season in passing yards per game and 27th in rushing yards.

The Huskies are 108th in defending the pass and 29th in defending the run, so look for Mariota to have a field day through the air.

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • ORE are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
  • Over is 35-17-1 in ORE last 53 home games.
  • WASH are 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings.
  • Favorite is 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 meetings.

Week 8 NCAA Football

Looking at this matchup, the Ducks are the favorites ATS because of recent history. They’ve gone 9-1-1 in the last 11 outings, and the favorite has won ATS 13 out of the last 17 times.

The problem? Oregon has not been good ATS as of late.

Free NCAA Betting Pick 4* Oregon -20.5

As good as the Ducks are on the national scale, they’ve struggled to keep up with the massive spreads that have placed upon them. Expect a similar trend to hold true against the Washington Huskies in Week 8, as a win straight up won’t necessarily equate to a three-touchdown advantage.
