Syracuse has had a less than stellar season accumulating just 3 wins and only 1 in the ACC.

Syracuse

Losers of four in a row, Syracuse has not had much to celebrate this season. With their one ACC win coming against Wake Forest and their two non conference wins coming against Villanova in overtime and Central Michigan, its safe to say Syracuse has not played well this season.

They’ll look to send their seniors out with a win when they try to spoil Boston College’s home finale.

Ranking 97th in the nation in pass yards (194.8) and 82nd in rushing (152.7), the Syracuse offense has had trouble finding the end zone every game. They rank near the bottom of the NCAA with just 18.0 points per game (120th). With no post season bowl game to look forward to, look for the Orange to open the playbook and fire the ball down field with QB AJ Long.

Syracuse has only scored 40 points over their last four games. They’ve averaged 20.8 points in road contests and allowed just 14.0.

The defense has been the only bright spot this season ranking 43rd overall in points allowed (24.0).

Boston College

Taking a 17-17 tie into the fourth quarter on the road in Florida State, Eagles K Alex Howell sent his field goal wide right which allowed Florida State to drive down the field and set up a game winning field goal of their own. Boston College will look to regroup and run their win total to 7, in hopes of receiving a better bowl bid.

Boston College showed last week exactly why they have no problem being a run first team. They rushed for 240 yards last week which is just below their 12th ranked season average of 261.8 rush yards a game. Senior QB Tyler Murphy has rushed for 1,059 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

Unlike most teams, Boston College has struggled in front of their home fans this season. They’ve dropped their last 3 home contests and have gone just 2-4 S.U.

They’ve averaged 25.0 points a game which is right around their season average of 25.7 points (87th).

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Orange are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
  • Orange are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
  • Eagles are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
  • Under is 5-0 in Orange last 5 games overall.

The only thing at stake come Saturday is the possibility of Boston College receiving a better bowl invitation with a win. Last seasons contest featured a 34-31 battle that saw Syracuse score with just 6 seconds left to win.

Free 4* NCAA Football Pick: Under 41.5

This game should be much different in terms of total offense and points scored.

The low total isn’t anything to be scared of here.

Boston College 13, Syracuse 10

Both offenses will chew up clock on offense and we should see the punters and field goal kickers a lot.
