This will be a matchup between two teams looking to bounce back after tough losses in Week 5. Both have byes next week, which will be crucial for one team coming off two straight losses.

Oregon State

We knew entering this season that the Beavers’ passing game would look different than it did last year despite Sean Mannion returning. Brandin Cooks, the team’s former No. 1 receiver, is with the New Orleans Saints, and as a result, the team has dropped to 52nd in the nation in passing yards per contest.

The good news is that the Buffaloes have struggled defending the pass, which should create plenty of opportunities for the Beavers to succeed. Colorado is giving up 243.4 yards per game through the air, which is 76th in the nation.

On the other side of the field, Oregon State has actually been borderline elite defending the pass. The team is 18th in the country in passing yards allowed per game, which is going to be a major theme in this one, as Colorado is 17th in the nation in passing yards gained.

Colorado

For Colorado, the defensive scheme is made extremely simple by the fact that Oregon State can’t run the football. OSU is 103rd in the nation in rushing yards per game, and they’ve shown no signs of improvement through this point in the year.

Unfortunately for the Buffaloes, defense has been far from successful. The team is allowing 35.6 points per contest, which is only good enough for 105th in the country.

If Colorado is going to pull off an upset here, it’s going to need to beat the Beavers’ pass defense. The Buffaloes are 17th in the country in passing yards per contest, and they’ll have to show why in this one.

Home-field advantage will help, but the question is, can they get a win straight up, or even ATS?

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • COLO are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
  • ORST are 23-11-1 ATS in their last 35 road games.

Week 6 NCAA Football

Although the Beavers are the ones coming off a blowout loss, compared to Colorado’s narrow defeat, they were facing a far superior opponent in USC over California. OSU is 3-1 on the season, and it should improve to 4-1 after this one.

Free NCAA Betting Pick 4* Oregon State -7

For Colorado, this is its best chance to win in the next three games. Starting this week, the team has Oregon State, ranked USC and ranked UCLA on the docket.

Although an elite passing performance could keep this one close, the Buffaloes’ defense just hasn’t given us any reason to believe they can keep the score within a single touchdown late. Give this one to the Beavers both SU and ATS.
