Stanford has dominated opponents, outscoring the completion 101-17 in its first two games of the season. Battering Duke 44-14 and San Jose State 57-3 to  move to 2-0 to open the 2010 campaign.

Cardinal golden boy QB Andrew Luck has picked up right where he left off last season and has passed for an eye-popping 461 yards and six touchdowns to one interception already this year. But let’s not overlook that the rest of the Cardinal offense that may have finally found what it will take to get Stanford to a National Championship game- a solid rushing attack.

Junior Stepfan Taylor has certainly come into his own, ripping off  136 yards on 32 carries for two scores so far this season, and those numbers should improve as the season progresses.

However, it hasn’t been just the offense, the Cardinal defense has been pretty amazing  too, currently ranked second in the nation in rushing defense, allowing 28.5 yards per game. Their defensive starters have not allowed a single touchdown this season and has shut down any efforts by their opponents to run the ball. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

That won’t make things any easier for a Wildcats team that is still trying to find its running game in the middle of a brutal three game stretch against ranked opponents. After losing in Week 2 to (8) Oklahoma State 37-14, they will travel host the (12) Oregon Ducks in Week 4.

The Wildcats rank last in the conference with 58 rushing yards per game, but in the air, the Cats’ are a totally different team.

Last week QB Nick Foles threw for 398 yards against Oklahoma State, and overall this year, he’s 71 of 93 for 810 yards and 6 TD’s.

If the Arizona defense can find a way of upsetting Luck, while the offense takes to the air, they might have a shot of pulling off a huge win in front of an anxious home crowd.

NCAA Gambling Trends:

STAN are 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Over is 6-2 in ARZ last 8 games on grass.
ARZ are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 home games.
STAN are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.

Matt’s Prediction: Stanford  39, Arizona 31 –

There will be plenty of offense in this game as both Luck and Foles will throw for over 300 yards apiece, but the Wildcats’ offense is too one-dimensional, allowing the Cardinal to clamp down defensively.

There is two ways to go here.

Stanford SU and Arizona plus the points, as I think this will be closer than the ten points given.
