Iowa will look to rebound from after a failed comeback attempt against the Wisconsin Badgers last week.

Nebraska

With a sense of nervousness and distress in Lincoln, Nebraska, people are starting to wonder if Cornhuskers head coach Bo Pelini is the man to lead this Nebraska team to where it wants to be.

After getting embarrassed against the Wisconsin Badgers, Nebraska literally had a win stolen away from them in the final minute of their Senior Day matchup against Minnesota. Golden Gophers Junior DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun stole the ball from Nebraska Freshman WR De-Mornay Pierson at the two yard and sealed the win for Minnesota.

Nebraska will look to lean heavily on RB Ameer Abdullah who is getting closer to 100% following his injury to Purdue a month ago. Abdullah has rushed for 1,417 yards and 18 touchdowns in his Senior campaign. The Iowa defense allowed Melvin Gordon to rush for 200 yards last week, which opened up the pass game for Wisconsin. Look for Nebraska to try to do the same thing this week.

Nebraska will look for a bit of revenge from last year, when Iowa came into Lincoln and destroyed the Cornhuskers 38-17.

Iowa

Inconsistent play over the last five weeks resulted in Iowa being knocked out of the Big Ten race. Going 2-3 over that span, Iowa will attempt to take third place in the Big Ten West with a win over rival Nebraska this week.

Junior QB Jake Rudock played one of his best games of the season last week throwing for 311 yards and 2 touchdowns. He nearly led a 16 point comeback against the Badgers, but fell just short. Iowa’s pass offense has been average at best this season with just 243.1 yards a game (52nd). With attempts at running a balanced offense, Iowa ranks 71st in the nation in rush yards per game with 157.6 yards.

At home this season, Iowa is 4-2 S.U. and 3-3 ATS. The Hawkeyes defense has a major part in those 4 wins, allowing only 19.7 points a game.

Iowa will stack the box on Friday and force Nebraska to win the game throwing the ball.

NCAA Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Cornhuskers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games.
  • Cornhuskers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 conference games.
  • Hawkeyes are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 conference games.
  • Hawkeyes are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Like most rivalry games, you can throw records and trends out the window. While both teams have been eliminated from the Big Ten race, a lot of pride is on the line here. Both teams will take out their season frustrations this game and we should have an intense, hard hitting game.

Free 4* NCAA Football Pick: Iowa PK

At the end of the day, Nebraska has lost all their momentum after the last couple of weeks.
Iowa 27, Nebraska 23

Iowa scores a late touchdown to and their defense makes a couple of big 4th quarter stops en route to a Hawkeyes victory.
