The Pirates have had little trouble navigating their schedule in the AAC, and will look to continue to beat up on conference foes when they take on the Huskies under the lights on Thursday.

Things have gone a little different for UConn, which has had a disappointing season thus far. The Huskies have only one win on the season through their first six games, and that came against an FCS opponent by just three points. They’ve lost each of their last four games since then, including all three of their divisional matchups.

Meanwhile, East Carolina has enjoyed a strong season, winning five of six on the season, sitting atop the conference standings in a tie with UCF at 2-0. The Pirates have won four in a row, most recently a 28-17 triumph over South Florida.

That win came on the road, but the team now returns home where they are 3-0 on the season, and have won 10 of their last 11, dating back to 2012.

The Huskies have had some issues on offense with Casey Cochran out for the season. Chandler Whitmer has seen the bulk of the snaps under center in his absence. He’s completed 55 percent of his passes for 856 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions for the season.

The East Carolina offense hasn’t seen those kinds of problems, as they’ve been one of the most prolific units in the nation, ranking 12th in the country in scoring with 41.0 points per game, and third in yardage, racking up 564.7 yards per game.

Quarterback Shane Carden has been the catalyst, completing nearly two-thirds of his passes for 354.8 yards per game with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.

FREE East Carolina vs. UConn Pick:

The Pirates are by far the better team in this one, but there don’t figure to be a lot of points in this matchup, which will make it hard for East Carolina to build up much of a margin.

[dfads params=’groups=63739&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

The UConn defense has been a rare strong spot, so don’t be surprised if they give the Pirates just enough trouble to keep this one under the number.

The Pirates are 1-4 ATS in their last six Thursday games, while the Huskies are 5-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games.

4* FREE NCAA play: UConn +27.5, Under 55

The under is 5-1 in the Huskies’ last six games overall, and it is 5-1 in their last six games when coming off a bye week.
