A season that began with so much promise is coming apart at the season for the Bruins, who now go out on the road in a must-win situation to take on a better than advertised Buffaloes squad that’s looking to play spoiler.

UCLA just eked out a win over California last weekend, surviving by a final score of 36-34. The Bruins had been considered one of the teams in contention for a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff, have lost twice already this season and are just 2-2 in the Pac-12.

They do still have something to play for as they compete for the Pac-12 title, but they can’t afford another loss and will need plenty of help the rest of the way.

As for Colorado, they lost their third game in a row by a final score of 56-28 at the hands of USC. The loss was the team’s fourth in a row against Pac-12 opponents. They dropped last year’s meeting with UCLA by a score of 45-23.

In last week\s win over Cal, UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley completed 31-of-42 passes for 330 yards and a pair of scores, adding 94 yards and an additional score on the ground. Hundley currently leads the Pac-12 in completion percentage, connecting on 72.5 percent of his passes.

Running back Paul Perkins has been another strong catalyst for the Bruins’ offense. He ranks second in the Pac-12 in rushing yards with 816, and has scored on the ground three times this season. He racked up 86 yards on 15 carries last week against Cal.

Colorado will look to get a boost in this matchup from wide receiver Nelson Spruce. Spruce leads the nation in receptions with 71, and touchdown receptions with 11. He also ranks atop the Pac-12 in receiving yards with 801.

The Bruins have had troubles building up margins this season, particularly on the road, and while it’s difficult to imagine the Buffaloes pulling off the upset, they are getting a fair number of points from the books. Additionally, the UCLA offense hasn’t travelled well, so the lofty total in this one will be hard to reach.

The Bruins are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall, while the Buffaloes are 5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games.

4* NCAA Free play: Colorado +13.5, Under 68.5

The under is 9-1 in the Bruins’ last 10 road games, and it is 3-1-1 in their last five conference games.
