The Sooners will be without running back Keith Ford in this matchup.

The top option in Oklahoma’s three-headed backfield, Ford will be out at least a week with a small fracture in his right leg, an injury he suffered in Week 3’s 34-10 victory over Tennessee. That’s a fairly big blow to a team already down top incoming freshman running back Joe Mixon, who was suspended for an offseason arrest.

Ford turned his 34 carries into 195 yards, but there’s still some talent back there. Fellow running backs Samaje Perine and Alex Ross have combined to run the ball 53 times for 309 yards.

Ford’s receiving skills will be missed though, as he’s hauled in six passes for 100 yards.

The team will likely lean a little more heavily on quarterback Trevor Knight.

With plenty of talent at just about every other position, the biggest question facing the Sooners this offseason was whether or not Knight could be the guy that takes this team to the next level, and so far he’s played the part, throwing for 308 yards against Tennessee – the highest regular season output of his career.

The Mountaineers counter with Clint Trickett, who himself has also taken a step forward. He’s coming off a career day of his own in which he completed 37-of-49 passes for 511 yards and four touchdowns. His top option has been wide receiver Kevin White, who hauled in 13 balls for 216 yards and ranks second in the nation having made 32 receptions for the season, gaining 460 yards through the air.

West Virginia will be dealing with a missing player of their own, as cornerback Daryl Worley has been suspended indefinitely following an arrest for an alleged assault. The sophomore has recorded 17 tackles and two interceptions this season.

FREE Oklahoma vs. West Virginia Pick:

The Mountaineers deserve a ton of credit for what they’ve done thus far, particularly hanging around with Alabama in their opener, though that may have told us more about Alabama than it did West Virginia.

Oklahoma simply outclasses the Mountaineers at just about every position, and should come away from this game with an easy victory.

Additionally, both sides can move the football and should be able to put up a fair number of points. The total is installed at a reasonable number, making the over the play.

The Sooners are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall, while the Mountaineers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven conference games.

The over is 6-1 in West Virginia’s last seven games overall, and it is 5-1-1 in the Sooners’ last seven games overall.
