Nebraska

Last week was almost catastrophic for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In a contest against the FCS McNeese State Cowboys, the Huskers needed a miracle play from their Heisman contending running back in the final seconds of the contest to pull out a win.

Fresno State isn’t much to write home about at this point, but it’s supposed to be on a different level than McNeese State.

Despite the poor showing against the Cowboys in Week 2, Nebraska has played productive football in two weeks. It’s 25th in points per game (43.0), 29th in points allowed (15.5), 53rd in passing yards (264.0) and sixth in rushing yards (346.5).

As good as the Huskers are overall, it’s all about the running game. Ameer Abdullah is a Heisman candidate for a reason, as he’s posting 7.5 yards per carry and has emerged as the leader of the offense.

Fresno State

Unlike Nebraska, Fresno State isn’t putting up nearly as impressive numbers when it comes to rankings. On offense, the team is posting 20 points per contest (112th), 106 yards per game on the ground (111th) and 221.5 yards per game through the air (76th).

On defense, the team is giving up an incredible 55.5 points per game, which is only good enough for 127th in the nation.

The key for the Bulldogs will be to stop the run game. Abdullah is going to be the No. 1 option for Nebraska, and if the Bulldogs can lock in on the Heisman candidate, it will do wonders for the defensive attack.

Then again, this team is giving up 55.5 points per game for a reason, and the Huskers will look to take advantage of a vulnerable defense any chance it can get.

Week 3 NCAA Football

Nebraska is favored by 10-and-a-half points in this one, and while the team doesn’t have much momentum following last week’s near blunder, it does have the advantage against the Bulldogs.

Free NCAA Betting Pick: 4* Nebraska -10.5

Fresno State will threaten to score most of the contest, but it doesn’t stand much of a chance of stopping the star tailback. As a result, if the Cornhuskers can keep the Bulldogs’ offense under control, the 10.5 point spread should be an easy target to hit.
