No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. No 22 Texas Longhorns Preview

NCAAF lines have Oklahoma State as a 7.5-point away favorite with a total of 64.5.

Last Saturday Texas lost to Oklahoma 55-14 and Oklahoma State crushed Kansas 70-28.

In the big loss to Oklahoma Texas gave up a ton of yards in the air so how will they fare this Saturday facing OSU QB Brandon Weeden and WR Justin Blackmon (38 rec 450 4 TD), who is the reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year? I would say not good at all. The Cowboys have a few guys who can make big plays down the field and Texas and their 55th ranked pass defense will not get much help from their pass rush since they only have 7 sacks on the season.

Last week in the win over Kansas Weeden did not throw for over 300 yards for the first time all season, but he passed for 288 yards and had 5 TD and 0 INT.

The Cowboys are not all about the pass, as RB Joseph Randle (461 yards 8 TD) leads OSU and their 64th ranked rushing defense. Texas cannot only focus on stopping Weeden or Randle will have a big game.

The young Texas QB duo of Case McCoy and David Ash did not play well, to say the least, in the blowout loss to Oklahoma with McCoy fumbling the ball twice and Ash throwing 2 INT. These guys cannot make mistakes in this game, but at least they will be facing a weak OSU pass defense that only ranks 103rd in the nation. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

One guy that must play well for the Longhorns to win is RB Texas RB Malcolm Brown, who really struggled in the loss to Oklahoma only averaging 3.2 yards per carry. He will be counted on to run the ball well against the Cowboys and their 75th ranked run defense, as it will not only help move the chains, but also keep Weeden and the dynamic offense of OSU on the sidelines. Last week in the easy win over Kansas the Cowboys gave up 153 rushing yards.

Betting Trends

Oklahoma State is 4-1 ATS and Texas is at 3-2 ATS and both teams have an Over/Under record of 3-2.

Oklahoma State is 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against teams with a winning record, and has an Over record of 11-5 in their last 16 games as a favorite.

Texas is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games against teams with a winning road record, and has an Under record of 6-2 in their last 8 home games.

In the last 4 games between these 2 teams the total has gone Under 4 times and the road team has covered the spread 4 times.

Jason’s Pick: I don’t think Texas will play as bad as last week, but they will not be able to stop Weeden and company and because of that the Cowboys will win and cover. Take the Under as well, as it will be close to 64 points, but not over it.
