Colorado Buffaloes 2015 NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Predictions

2015-16 Football Previews – (Pac-12) – Buffaloes

Despite going 2-10 last season, the Colorado Buffaloes are fully expecting to show their true potential during the 2015-16 NCAA Football Season. After being bitten by the injury bug and the always-transitioning coaching staff, Colorado has struggled to not only stay relevant, but to win multiple games in a season.

This season, they look beyond that and hope that those issues are behind them so that they can finally put everything together.

With the Jon Embree effect still hurting the Buffs in certain areas, Mike MacIntyre is hoping to finally bury the past and start a new winning tradition in Colorado. To do so, the team will need to wade through a very competitive Pac-12.

The Pac-12 South’s team are some of the strongest fielded in recent years, and the Buffaloes are ready to take them head on.

Let’s break down the team’s strengths and weaknesses in 2015.

Team Strengths

By far the biggest thing going for the team is the return of QB Sefo Liufau. Amassing 3,200 yards through the air and another 250 on the ground. Also returning are a lot of offensive starters, including receivers Nelson Spruce and Shay Fields.

With another year of experience and chemistry with Liufau under their belts, the offense could make some positive strides this season.

The defensive line and linebacking corps are both returning all but 1 starter from last season and the defensive secondary stayed intact. With so many returners this season, and another year under MacIntyre’s schemes, the team is in a very good position to improve upon their 2-10 blemish from last year.

Team Weaknesses

While so many of the defensive starters are returning, it’s hard not to look at last season’s efforts and be slightly worried. The defense gave up 36 points or more in every game except 2 last season, including giving USC 56 points and Cal 59 points in a 56 point effort by the offense.

That’s going to happen when the team is decimated by injuries, as the defense was.

Another understated loss is on special teams – both punter Darrag O’Neill and place kicker Will Oliver are gone this season as well. And while their returners are back, the Buffaloes could face field position issues if they’re not able to replace the 76% field goal efficiency or the 44 yards per punt average that they lost.

2015-16 Colorado Buffaloes Prediction: 4-9

The Buffaloes WILL improve this season, but not by a whole lot. Yes, they have some talent on the field, but they have to face a gauntlet of teams vying for Pac-12 division titles.

Unless something major clicks early, Colorado could be at the bottom of the Pac again.

Having a 13 game schedule could help, though, with an extra non-conference opponent scheduled to hopefully help boost the win column. It won’t help THAT much.
