Clemson Tigers 2015 NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Predictions

2015-16 Football Previews – (ACC) – Tigers

The Clemson Tigers are coming off their fourth straight season of 10 or more victories, something they have only done once in their history. There might be some overall disappointment with their recent performance but in broad terms they have just not been as good as Florida State, but, they have finished in the Top 15 in the final polls each of the last three seasons.

ACC 2015-2016 College Football Preview – Clemson Tigers:
Head Coach:  Dabo Swinney
2014 Record:  10-3
Odds to win ACC:  +260
Win Total:  9

This year they think, and many others do too, they can get by the Seminoles. If that is true than they might be able to sneak into the playoffs as well. Its possible once you look at their schedule.

2015 will not be their most talented team under Dabo Swinney but their schedule sets up well including hosting FSU and a trip to an lighter than usual South Carolina team to close the year.

There is no team on the schedule they can’t beat and if they do so impressively than they just might be a playoff candidate…and nobody is talking about it.

There is a lot of work to be done and Florida State probably still has to be good for that to happen but Clemson might be in playoff talk this season.

Strengths

This season is going to hinge in the health of DeShaun Watson.

One of the most physically gifted quarterbacks around he can’t make plays from the trainer’s room and they are going to need him to be great if they want to come close to the potential I mentioned above.

He is fortunate to have a couple of talented receivers in Artavis Scott and Mike Williams who will make it easier for him. On defense it looks like DE Shaq Lawson will try and continue the legacy of Vic Beasley and many others on the defensive line.

The Tigers seem to always have at least one next level prospect in that group and this year it is him. They need the junior to take a leap this season.

Weaknesses

The Tigers will be without OC Chad Morris, the architect of their recent offensive success, this season.

As far as I can tell they are not planning to change much but transitioning always has its hiccups.

The will be also looking to replace eight starters on the defensive side of the ball. All of those new starters are projected to be juniors and seniors and they are the product of touted recruiting classes, but that is a lot of depth and continuity to replace.

Included among those they have to replace is Beasley, one of the most disruptive players in all of college football over the last couple of seasons. His presence made others betters.

Prediction:  11-1

It is very tempting to call the perfect regular season alluded to above.

To get there Watson is going to have to be Heisman worthy from the get go and that might be too much to ask. Clemson starts with a couple of gimmes that I am not sure will well prepare them for their first ACC tilt at Louisville, who I think it underrated. The Cardinals are good enough to beat any team in the ACC this season.

Win or lose they get a bye afterwards and should be in good shape to host Notre Dame the week after, a win giving them momentum for the rest of their league schedule including a visit from FSU.

This is a good Clemson team that could use this season to set up for next year when they might start the year in the Top Five in the polls. Betting wise I am not sure where this team is going to fall as it transitions new players and coaches.

It might be a fade squad that wins more than impresses.
