Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bearcats have the luxury of entering Week 10 coming off of a bye. Their last contest saw them dominate the University of Connecticut 41-6, giving them tons of confidence against Memphis.

Cincinnati’s offense has been spotty this season, and while it is coming off of a strong performance, it is also slated to go up against a defense that has been very good on the year. Memphis, despite struggling mightily on offense, has allowed just 22.5 points per game.

The truth is that this number has a lot to do with their weak strength of schedule, but the fact remains that it is the 34th-best mark in the entire FBS. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

For the Bearcats to score against the Tigers, they will need another strong showing out of quarterback Brandon Kay.

He is coming off of a 300-yard, four-touchdown, no-interception performance, and those are the types of numbers that will lead to a dominant win against Memphis.

Defensively, Cincinnati just has to keep doing what it’s done all year to find success. It has allowed just 17.6 points per contest, which is good enough for 10th in the nation.

Memphis

If Memphis is going to win this game, it’s going to be with defense. The Tigers have yet to find a way to score on a consistent basis, as they’re averaging just 20.2 points per game (108th in the country), and slowing down the Bearcat offense appears to be the only way we’ll have a game come Wednesday.

Aside from stopping Brandon Kay, the Tigers must keep an eye on fullback Jordan Luellen and receiver Chris Moore. Moore recorded two touchdowns through the air, while Luellen carried the ball an astounding 51 times (he also threw for 64 yards and a touchdown).

Unfortunately for Memphis, the aforementioned keys to victory are simply too much to ask for at this point in the process. The Tigers have less firepower than their opponents, as evidenced by the fact that they just just 93rd in passing yards and 72nd in rushing yards on the season.

The spread entering the contest may be just two points, but don’t be shocked if Cincinnati runs away with it when the clock strikes zero.

Prediction: Cincinnati -2
