SEC Conference Odds Preview
The SEC is the biggest baddest conference around and they have earned that title. The League have won so many championships in a row it is hard to keep track and have to be an odds on favourite again as they enter this season with a high number of highly ranked teams.

No team is more highly ranked than Alabama who enters 2013 as the near consensus #1 team in the nation. Coach Nick Saban has that program rocking like no other right now but lets not forget that Georgia almost denied the Crimson Tide the chance to compete for a second straight title last season in the SEC Championship Game.
This year Georgia will again be a significant threat, and so will South Carolina, Texas A&M, Florida, maybe even LSU. These aren’t just ranked schools they are among the very best and most talented teams in the nation.
Here is a look at the top 4 teams and their odds to win the SEC in 2013 (odds courtesy of BetOnline):
Alabama +140
At this point there is not much else to be written about the Crimson Tide.
The have QB A.J. McCarron returning to man the attack and he has nice weapons in sophomore running back T.J. Yeldon and sophomore receiver Amari Cooper – they are both huge playmakers.

Despite all that the real strength of this team has been, and will be the defense, which returns 7 starters from a unit that was first in the nation in scoring, rushing and total defense.
The funny thing is that despite all the good teams they will have to beat to claim another SEC title the Crimson Tide are still pretty good value at +140 to do so.
They are the number one team in the country and you can get better than two to one to plus a little just for them to win the SEC.
Georgia +400
The Bulldogs are itching for another chance to deny ‘Bama an SEC title after coming so close a year ago. This team is absolutely loaded on offense with senior QB Aaron Murray and a two headed backfield featuring Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall, both capable of 1000 yard seasons.
The primary concern for Georgia is that they have little returning on the defensive side of the ball – only three starters. They do have lots of promising, athletic players but they are going to need a lot players to step up and show they are ready.
As the class of the East Division there is great value on Georgia though. It is almost too good to ignore…unless you think they just can’t beat Alabama.
South Carolina +500
Gamecocks DE Jadeveon Clowney may be the best player in college football but that is not enough to make South Carolina a favourite in this race. The defense overall should be very strong but on offense there is not nearly as much to fear as QB Connor Shaw is known more for his toughness than for directing the team to scored. Further this team could be behind the eightball all season long if they lose their SEC opener @Georgia in Week 2. South Carolina is a very good team but I don’t think they are a serious threat to win the conference this season. even though they are starting ranked in the Top 10.
Texas A&M +1000 (currently off a lot of boards)
The Aggies are the real Wild Card in this bunch. They are the only team to have beaten Alabama last season but at the moment the status of Heisman winning QB Johnny Manziel is uncertain. Even if he is in the line lineup Texas A&M is missing some critical pieces from last year’s defense but this year’s game is at Kyle Field and that has got to count for something.
I don’t think the Crimson Tide will shrink but the home crowd has to pump up the Aggies. Johnny Football is essentially the Wild Card in the SEC, BCS and Heisman races so keep your eye out for news about his status.
