Aggies vs. Gamecocks NCAA Football Gambling Odds & Week 1 Prediction

Free Pick: Texas A&M vs. South Carolina

Week 1 NCAA football betting action begins this week. Two SEC programs look to prove something as the Texas A&M Aggies take on the South Carolina Gamecocks down in Columbia.  Cappers Picks provides free College Football  handicapping tips all season long.

It was kind if short lived but the Johnny Manziel era certainly provided a lot of excitement. Had he and some other notables stuck around for this season the Aggies would have been a threat but as it stands they are looking not to slip too far in the super challenging SEC West.

Texas A&M

It was kind if short lived but the Johnny Manziel era certainly provided a lot of excitement. Had he and some other notables stuck around for this season the Aggies would have been a threat but as it stands they are looking not to slip too far in the super challenging SEC West.

Their chances are not helped but the fact they have a very difficult conference road opener to start the season. It is exactly the kind of game you would have liked to have an experienced quarterback at the helm.

If the Aggies are going to succeed in this game and this season coach Kevin Sumlin is going to have to rely on his defense more than ever before. 9 starters return on that side of the ball this season but bye SEC standards this group is probably just average.

To expect them to carry the team this season is not very realistic.

South Carolina

Like with A&M above the Gamecocks will be starting the season with a lot of talk about who is no longer on campus as they lost both the top pick int the draft and their starting QB, with the latter likely being more meaningful.

This program is looking to finally break through this season and is a lot of people’s choice to win the SEC East.

To do so they have to be strong early as they play the Aggies and Georgia in the first three weeks of the season. Expectations are really high.

South Carolina will also be looking to a new signal caller but in their case they have one with real experience in Dylan Thompson. More importantly they should have a potent running game thanks to Mike Davis, the leading returning rusher in the SEC this season.

The offense should be fine and the recruiting has made sure the defense is strong too even though they have lost their headliner.

Total prediction: Over
Spread prediction:  South Carolina -10.5
Score prediction:  South Carolina 38 – Texas A&M 21

The story on this one is going to be all about what could have been had Manziel and Clowney not declared early. Be that as it may Gamecocks are the better and deeper team and are at home. The Aggies have declared sophomore Kenny Hill the starter and this will be his first real game experience.

That is going to be a tough environment with all the world watching on the new SEC Network. He won’ be a total disaster but the difference between Hill and Thompson will be very noticeable.

The best bet on this one is the spread because I could also see it being more like 24-10.
