ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

10th Stanford scored an upset in their opening game if the Big Dance and can they come up with a HUGE one against Kansas? The Cardinal beat a New Mexico team that may thought, including me, that could be a dark horse in the NCAA tourney and they are the 5.5-point underdog facing 2nd seed Kansas in a South Region match up.

In their win over New Mexico Stanford did not have a good shooting night, but won with their defense, which held the Lobos to a FG% of only 36.5%.

The Cardinal shot under 39% in the New Mexico win, but they did hit 8 of their 15 3-pointers and Kansas have to keep Stanford from bombing away from deep.

Kansas did not look good in the first half facing Eastern Kentucky, as the game was tied at halftime. However, the Kansas D played well in the 2nd half and they cruised to an 11-point win.

Andrew Wiggins was solid in the Eastern Kentucky game and he and Perry Ellis, who are the team’s leading scorers, combined for 33 points and each shot over 50% from the floor. The Stanford defense has their work cut out for them facing a Jayhawks’ offense that shot over 60% from the floor in the Eastern Kentucky game.

Kansas was sloppy in the EKU game with 14 turnovers and they cannot let that happen again.

Joel Embiid is still out with a back injury and Stanford needs to take advantage of that and attack the hoop and get easy points from the free throw line.

Kansas is the nation’s 10th ranked team and this season the Cardinal were 3-2 facing ranked teams.

Betting Trends

Stanford is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games, 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall, and they have an Under record of 5-1 in their last 6 games.

Kansas is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, and they have an Over record of 10-3 in their last 13 games following a S.U. win.

Jason’s Pick:

Kansas will play a better game that they did in their Big Dance opener and while the Cardinal will not get blown out the Jayhawks will win and cover the 5.5-point spread.
