Wisconsin Badgers vs. Iowa Hawkeyes Betting Lines from Bookmaker.com

The Wisconsin Badgers beat Purdue last week and then dismantled Michigan State on Sunday. Bo Ryan’s team is tied for second in the Big Ten, and they have a huge matchup with Ohio State this Saturday. The Iowa Hawkeyes picked up a nice road win in Indiana on Saturday afternoon. Iowa beat Michigan State at home last Wednesday, so they have won two straight games coming into this battle.

Wisconsin turns the ball over less than anyone else in the nation. The Badgers are a well-coached team, and they win by taking care of the ball and playing solid defense. Wisconsin slows the tempo down more than anyone else in the country, and they can really lull you to sleep. Jordan Taylor is a star at the point guard spot, and Jon Leuer is terrific in the post. Leuer has a good low-post game, but he can also stretch the defense with his shooting ability. Wisconsin has three guys: Leuer, Taylor, and Keaton Nankovil, who shoot better than 40% from beyond the arc.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have started adapting to new coach Fran McCaffrey’s system, and the dividends are coming already. The team plays at a faster pace than they have in previous years, and there is more of an emphasis on attacking the basket. Bryce Cartwright transferred in from Fresno State, and he has been a key contributor for this team. Matt Gatens started the season slowly, but he has regained his shooting form over the last few games. Eric May is the type of guy who can put up the points in bunches as well. Iowa isn’t that great defensively, but they are slowly improving.

Gambling Trends:

Under is 8-1 in WISC last 9 Wed. games.
WISC are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
WISC are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big Ten.
Over is 21-10-1 in IOWA last 32 Wed. games.

The Pick:

Wisconsin’s defense will buckle down on Iowa in this one, and I think they will control the tempo as well. Bo Ryan’s team sticks to their style at all times, which should help them grind out a close win at Iowa. I like the under in this one.

Prediction: Wisconsin 61 Iowa 56
