The Connecticut Huskies travel to the Big Apple to take on the St. John’s Red Storm this Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in a classic Big East tilt. The game is set to tip at 7 p.m.(ET) and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Connecticut is 18-4 straight-up overall (10-6 against the spread) and still ranked ninth in the country but it is just 6-4 SU in Big East play. The Huskies squeezed out a 61-59 victory over Seton Hall this past Saturday as a three-point road favorite after losing to Syracuse 66-58 as a three-point home favorite last Wednesday night.

Kemba Walker’s 23.2 points a game is sixth-best in the nation and he also leads the team in assists with 4.2 a game. Alex Oriakhi is the Huskies leading rebounder with an average of 8.6 a game and the second leading scorer with 10.5 points. UConn is shooting 42.8 percent from the field and averaging 74 points a game. It remains one of the best rebounding schools in the country with 41 per game.

St. John’s is just 13-9 SU overall (8-13 ATS) and 5-5 SU in the Big East, but it has been a giant killer this season with a 72-54 victory over No.7 Notre Dame on Jan.16 as a three-point home favorite and a stunning 93-78 romp over No.5 Duke as an eight-point home underdog on Jan.30.

The Red Storm is led by Dwight Hardy’s 15.8 points a game and Justin Brownlee’s 12.8. D.J. Kennedy is the team’s leading rebounder with an average of 5.6 a game and is third in scoring with 10.1 points. St. John’s is averaging 69 points a game, but will be at a huge disadvantage in this game with an average of  just 32 rebounds a game.

St. John’s has already proven itself to be a thorn in the side of some of the better teams in the nation and will not go down without a fight, but stick with Connecticut to cover the one point on the road.
