Texas just keeps looking better and better as Big 12 play continues.  They upset Kansas, winning by 11, breaking their home winning streak in the process, and you will be hard pressed to find a team in the nation playing better right now.  The reason they are playing so well is that their backcourt has shifted from weak point to a strength this year.  A prime reason for that is the play of freshman point guard Cory Joseph, whose presence seems have pushed everyone into the right roles.  Jordan Hamilton has been cast as the gunner and he is scoring nearly 20ppg.

He may force his offense a couple of times per game but he is shooting high percentage and leading the team in rebounds as well.  Texas is a very good team and his presence gives them a great option every time down the floor allowing others like frosh forward Tristan Thompson and the rest of the gang to do their thing.  This team is loaded where it matters – in the backcourt.  Their depth is difficult to overcome although Mizzou will try with their frenetic pace.

The Big 12 is blessed with several top teams this season and they are proving their excellence time and again.  Missouri is among them with their trademark exhausting style forcing most opponents into submission.  Mizzou is fifth in the nation in scoring but it is a mostly balanced attack with 5 players averaging more than 10ppg.  Like Texas they are deep at guard and on the wing but they need their key bigs to play well or there running game grinds to a halt.  When they get into foul trouble it really fouls things up.

Mizzou has played very well all season long and beaten several good teams but the Tigers have yet to have a signature victory.  Winning on the road at Texas would be just such a feat, one that could elevate them to one of the top seed lines come March.  It won`t come easy though.  Leading scorer Marcus Denmon will have to be sharp and smart for Mizzou to achieve victory…sometimes he is neither.

Texas is proving that they just might have what it takes to make a Final Four run and is looking for more road victories to prove its point.  They were sharp in Stillwater earlier in the week stopping the Cowboys and will emerge victorious against the Tigers as well.

Super Bowl betting players don’t have to worry about a homefield advantage as the big game will be played on a neutral field in Dallas, but in the NCAA on Saturday, Missouri will be looking to secure their first win on the road against Texas in their fifth try. The Longhorns will be aiming to wake up on Sunday with their perfect Big 12 record intact.

The No.11 Tigers (17-3, 3-2) showed they weren’t looking ahead to Texas by jumping out to a 22-point halftime deficit en route to an 87-54 rout over Iowa State at home Michael Dixon led all five Mizzou starters in double figures with 15 points, and NFL playoff betting players will tell you how important it is to have balance throughout your offense. The Tigers’ high-pressure defense held the Cyclones to 27.1% from the field, and they held a massive 55-35 edge on the glass, and the big halftime lead allowed them to rest some players ahead of this huge trip to Austin.

The No.7 Longhorns (17-3, 5-0) overcame an emotional crowd at Oklahoma State, who were remembering the 10 players who died in a plane crash 10 years ago, to defeat the Cowboys 61-46 on the road on Wednesday. Tristan Thompson scored all 14 of his points in the second half, while Jordan Hamilton had 12 points and 11 boards for the Longhorns, who locked down the Cowboys to limit them to 32.1% from the field, and this game showed how far Texas has come. Last year, the Longhorns would have folded in a hostile environment, but this year’s edition is far more mature and that is going to serve them well as the season progresses.

This game will be well worth the price per head if you like offense, as these are two of the quickest teams in the country and this matchup could end up being a track meet. The Longhorns should be favored at home, where they have beaten the Tigers in all four of their previous meetings, and they have a big advantage in the post with Thompson and Gary Johnson, while Hamilton’s emergence on the glass has been a huge boost for the Longhorns.  For Mizzou, it’ll start with their perimeter defense and they’re going to pressure the Texas guards all the way up the floor because once the ball gets in the post, the Longhorns can dominate. We’re going to give the edge to the Longhorns in this instance because Texas takes good care of the ball, and they’re coming off a few big wins over Texas A&M, Kansas and Oklahoma State.
