A lot is expected of the N.C. State program this year and so far they haven’t delivered much. They got hammered by an Oklahoma State team that features a couple of great players already but I am more distressed by a near home loss to UNC-Asheville.

NC State
Are they just having trouble living up to their preseason clippings or is this team flawed in a way we didn’t expect?
A battle in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge will help us figure it out.
Given all the returning talent it is a surprise to see freshman forward T.J. Warren leading the team in scoring early on.
Is it possible that veteran stars CJ Leslie and Lorenzo Brown are upset. Brown, who some think is the best point guard in the college, is shooting an atrocious 35% and turning the ball over way too much.
Leslie is showing his all around game but not looking like a sure fire next level pro at the moment. This team has depth with 6 players averaging double figures in the early going.
The Wolf Packs is 3-1 ATS but this is their first game as an underdog this season. It is probably the role they are most familiar with despite all the preseason praise. They should be able to challenge a Michigan team that is playing really well early on.
Certainly they have the scoring talent to compete and might be a must play because they could upset the Wolverines.
Michigan
Michigan is living up to all expectations early with 5 victories out of the chute including a couple of quality wins over Kansas State and Pittsburgh teams, who are likely to be in the tournament come March. [ad-6571516]
They haven’t played at home in more than two weeks and will be looking to help the Big Ten, who some think is the best league this year, win their annual challenge against the ACC.
This is one of a few marquee matchups.
A key for this one is the health of two guard Tim Hardaway Jr. He has been cleared to play but could be a little bit off his game ,which is big as he is the Wolverines leading scorer. If he needs to, you can bet that guard Trey Burke will be happy to up his game and take center stage.
Michigan also has an athletic freshman wing forward who is off to a great start in Glenn Robinson III. He is third in scoring and leads the team in rebounding in the early going.
Unlike N.C. State, Michigan has done nothing to cause question of their early season high ranking.
In fact you might argue that they have room to grow as bigs Jordan Morgan and Mitch McGary haven’t really provided much to the attack or on the glass due to foul problems.
They are going to need both of these guys to play well to win this one.
