Louisville Cardinals vs. Syracuse Orange Gambling Prediction & CBB Preview

Cardinals vs Orange CBB Basketball Spread/Handicapping

Despite being in the top 10 no one is talking much about Louisville these days. They are second in the Big East and depending on how things break they could wind up winning the conference and earning a top seed. They have won their last 4 games but have not played a top team in a while.

Louisville

If they are going to realize any of the opportunities mentioned above they are going to need to win on Saturday.

The Cardinals might be peaking at the right time.  Center Georgui Dieng, who is a menace on the defensive end, is starting to become a force on the offensive side too; and this week’s viral video of the moment was a powerful dunk by Chane Behanan, who is also always teasing with his talent.

The Cardinals are and can be very good but I think they are far from the team some pegged to win it all in the preseason.

Louisville is definitely a live dog Saturday.  They are a very good team capable of beating anyone anywhere.  Add in some revenge and the fact that Syracuse is struggling and you could easily argue they should be the favourite.

If you are going to play Louisville play them on the ML as predicting a 1 point game is pretty dangerous.

Syracuse

The Orange have lost their last two games so they are looking to get their mojo back on Saturday.  One of their biggest wins of the season was a road victory at Louisville but that must feel like a long time ago now. [ad-6571516]

The Orange are always tough to beat at home, losing just once all season at the CarrierDome.  That was last week against Georgetown, a game that catapulted the Hoyas to the top of the conference.

In terms of pure talent it is hard not to like the Orange, even if that talent seems a little mis-matched.  Point guard Michael Carter Williams has really hurt the team with his inability to make shots.

Meanwhile the forward combination of C.J. Fair and James Southerland is averaging nearly 30 points per game but since neither is great at creating their own shots sometimes the offense stagnates.

Were it not for recent struggles Syracuse would probably be more like a 5 point favourite against Louisville.  This is a real gut check game for the Orange and you are getting some extra value.

That is just too much to ignore.

Louisville is not blessed with great shooters so the Orange zone will be very effective again.

Spread Pick:  Syracuse -1.5
