Kansas

Both teams escaped the Sweet Sixteen by the skin of their teeth and it is a little disconcerting how Kansas really struggled early in the game yet again.

These are two of the storied programs so it is no surprise to see them in this spot even if both seems to have a fair number of warts right now.

The other day I was listening to a podcast and an expert was saying how bad a coach Bill Self is.  After watching Kansas the last couple of games I am inclined to believe it is true.

Against Purdue and NC State the Jayhawks really struggled to get going.  When you have All-America players like Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor that really shouldn’t be the case.

I don’t really like this team but here they are a game away from the Final Four. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

North Carolina

I think we all knew that not having point guard Kendall Marshall would be big but did anyone believe they would need overtime to put away Ohio.?  (not Ohio State)

The Bobcats played a spirited game while the Tar Heels sleep walked through regulation and almost found themselves out.  As this is being written that status of Marshall is uncertain.

What is certain is how desperately they need him to compete for a championship.

Is Harrison Barnes really a next level superstar?  He was brutal against Ohio, a team that didn’t really have the size or athleticism to guard him.  If they are going to win on Sunday he has to have a big game.  Kansas has size enough to neutralize Carolina bigs John Henson and Tyler Zeller – who was awesome Friday night.

Barnes is the key, with or without Marshall they need him to perform.

Spread Pick:  North Carolina +2.5
O/U Pick:  Under
Score Prediction:  North Carolina 69 – Kansas 65
