The home team, UCLA, has dropped 5 in a row and sits in the cellar of the Pac-12.

Stanford

The Cardinal made an early statement in Pac-12 play with wins over both Washington State and #21 Washington. Now, they’ll be tested as they hit the road for a 3 game, California school road trip. First stop is against the reeling Bruins.

Stanford comes in winners of 4 in a row. Two of them coming against the Washington schools, and another came against the then #9 Texas Longhorns. The Cardinal are winning games with big stops on the defensive end and forcing their opponents into turnovers. During their 4 game winning streak, the Cardinal are forcing the opposition to turn it over 16 times a game.

Leading the way for the surging Cardinal is Senior G Chasson Randle. Randle is scoring 18.8 points a game thus far. In the first two Pac-12 games, Randle scored 18 against Washington State and 24 against Washington. In the team’s 13 games, he has only scored single digits just one time.

Helping Randle on the offensive end is Senior C Stefan Nastic. Nastic is scoring 14.2 points a contest and grabbing 6.8 rebounds. He recorded a double-double in the win over Washington going for 10 points and 11 rebounds.

In non neutral site games, Stanford is just 1-2 on the road this season.

UCLA

Starting off the season 8-2, the Bruins looked poised to have another successful season with a chance at making a deep tournament run. However, tides have turned as they have dropped 5 straight and look to get back in the win column when they welcome in the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday night.

Last time UCLA was on the court they were embarrassed by the #10 Utah Utes 71-39. While things are certainly not right for UCLA, they haven’t been losing to weak teams by any means. During this current 5 game skid, the Bruins have fell to the #9, #1, and #10 ranked teams in the country.

The recent struggles for UCLA have been for multiple reasons. The main one being Sophomore G Bryce Alford’s struggles from the floor. Alford was held scoreless against Utah and is shooting just 13% in his last 3 games. On the season, Alford is averaging 15.7 points a game. Getting him going will be a giant key to putting an end to this 5 game losing streak for the Bruins.

7 of UCLA’s 8 wins this season have come on their home floor. In those 8 games, the Bruins are 4-4 ATS.

NCAA Basketball Trends:

  • Cardinal are 9-20 ATS in their last 29 Thursday games.
  • Cardinal are 2-5-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. Pacific-12.
  • Bruins are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points.
  • Bruins are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games.

Free 4* NCAA Basketball Pick: UCLA -1.5

When bettors see this match up, they’ll simply look at records and current streaks. While UCLA is struggling, they’ve been losing to quality opponents. In desperate need of a win to get themselves going, expect the Bruins to come out ready to play Thursday.
