Wyoming
When people talk about the depth of the Mountain West Conference in basketball it is program like Wyoming that they are referring to. Going up to Laramie has always been a difficult trip and they can lull you to sleep with their uniforms but now that they have some players too the Cowboys are having success.

San Diego State looks like the team to beat in the conference but they should be pushed by Wyoming, and by Colorado State. The games between these two program could determine the next best team in the league.
The Cowboys have a familiar name to most basketball fans in Larry Nance Jr. Not quite the equal of his father he is making a bid for the Mountain West POY by leading the Cowboys in points and rebounds.

His 15ppg might not look like a ton but this is a defense first squad – they are third in points allowed. He gets a lot of attention as only one other player on the team averages in double figure – guard Josh Adams.
Colorado State
CSU made it through the nonconference unscathed losing their first game of the season in their last game at New Mexico. Playing at the Pit is always tough so don’t take as this team being a fake, they are a quality squad that has a quality win at rival Colorado under its belt. Further with 14 wins already it is looking like 25 victories will be an inevitability. If that is the case it is going to be hard to keep them out of the tournament this season. The MWC might get multiple bids.
The Rams are all about J.J. Avila. The power forward leads the team in scoring, rebounding assists and steals and if he played anywhere else we would probably know a lot more about him already. He has a couple of other running mates that score 11ppg and the Rams usually have more than enough offense.

Getting the points they are used to against a team like Wyoming might be a challenge though.
