College basketball betting sees the Gonzaga Bulldogs taking on the UCLA Bruins on Friday March 2 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Cappers Picks provides complimentary handicapping picks all NCAA Tournament long.

This looks like it could finally be the year that the Bulldogs make a run. Getting UCLA looks like an easy mark to me.

Gonzaga

The Zags have made it to the second weekend and have a favourable matchup in the form of UCLA.

This is a very talented team and it was a good sign that they played well against Iowa after their ho-hum first tournament game. Gonzaga is looking to finally make a long run and this team seems poised to do it.

What more could you ask for than seniors guards, lots of scoring options, enough size and a little less scrutiny than usual.

I just hope they are not looking ahead to a potential rumble with Duke.

Gonzaga is so good at sharing the ball it is hard to predict who will bust out from game to game.

Kyle Wiltjer has been fantastic this season providing the Zags with scoring and taking the pressure off Kevin Pangos. I still see Pangos as being the most critical player for the Bulldogs.

He can do so many things well and is the guy they look to in crunch time situations. He and Gary Bell are the reason I like this group enough to make to the Final Four.

UCLA

Just because you win a couple of games doesn’t mean you deserved to be in the Tournament…and I don’t think UCLA deserved it.

There is no doubt that there is talent on this team but mostly they have underperformed and though I don’t necessarily believe in luck, they are pretty lucky to have gotten by their first game against SMU.

Rant over, approaching the next round against Gonzaga, this is going to be a very tough game.

The Zags are very “professional” and the Bruins lack consistency.

This season Norman Powell has shone for the Bruins.

He is their leading scorer and does a little bit of everything. UCLA has some size in the form of double-double machine Kevin Looney but the straw that stirs the drink is Bryce Alford.

He can shoot the Bruins into and out of games and will need to have his best game directing traffic and guiding the offense for UCLA to win.

If they are not efficient on offense they are going to be toast.

NCAAB Betting Trends:

  • UCLA are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 vs. West Coast.
  • Under is 17-7 in UCLA last 24 overall.
  • Over is 9-4 in UCLA last 13 NCAA Tournament games.
  • Over is 20-6 in GONZ last 26 NCAA Tournament games.
  • Over is 19-7 in GONZ last 26 vs. Pacific-12.
  • GONZ are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Pacific-12.

NCAAB Betting Prediction: Gonzaga -8.5

This is a good matchup for Gonzaga.

NCAAB Score Prediction:  Gonzaga 82 – UCLA 69

I think they are better than the Bruins at all spots on the floor and will ultimately pull away to win by double digits.
