If they were looking ahead perhaps we should get better efforts in this one.

North Carolina

The Tar Heels are playing well. They had some nice victories in the ACC Tournament to make it to the final and have been lying in the weeds thanks to the attention directed at the likes of Duke, Virginia and Notre Dame.

I am not saying they are going to make a run but they have all the ingredients a team would need to do so and if they did it would probably fall into the category of living up to expectations as compared to a surprise. This Arkansas team will be a test though.

I really like the Tar Heels big but if they are going to win it will be because their perimeter guys step up. Marcus Paige has not had a great season but they won’t win a game where he does not play well and I love the combination of J.P. Tokoto and Justin Jackson. Jackson has emerged as an outside sniper and Tokoto is a superior athlete who can fill a stat sheet with points, board and steals. This group is really good.

Arkansas

The Razorbacks finished second in the SEC regular season and confirmed that spot again by losing to Kentucky in the finals of the conference tournament.

This might not be a club that can climb that mountain but they can be a threat to other good teams like North Carolina. They definitely have some talent that will play at the next level are the kind of team that if they can get the game going at the pace they want they can dominate. The challenge is that pace is what UNC wants too. Their game against Wofford was a good example, they struggle with slow games.

In the game against Wofford Michael Qualls and Bobby Portis, the team’s two best players were solid but the rest of the team didn’t contribute much. That is not a good sign as UNC will have more size to bother Portis and the athletes to match up with Qualls.

The three other starters combined for 12 points and Rashad Madden is going to have to do a much better job getting the offense going.

NCAAB Betting Trends:

  • Under is 6-2 in ARK last 8 Sat. games.
  • ARK are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
  • UNC are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games.
  • Over is 14-6 in UNC last 20 neutral site games.

NCAAB Betting Prediction:  North Carolina -4.5

NCAAB Score Prediction:  North Carolina 81 – Arkansas 71

This will be a fun one. Ultimately the depth of North Carolina will be too much for the Hogs. A good solid win that will propel UNC.
